and the main reason for that is, almost no one is aborting third trimester for any reason other than medical reasons

adding red tape only hurts people who need it most

as someone who had a child born 3 months early due to a life threatening pregnancy and has adopted 3 children, one of which was born 4 months early, do children not need that compassion too?

a) unborn babies are not children

b) babies born at 24 weeks or earlier have less than a 50% survival rate. Essentially in the coin flip of whether it was worth it to endure difficult medical procedures and heartache for a chance at a healthy baby, you got lucky. The government should not be involved in making that decision for a woman

It's not a dumb question. If you acknowledge that the unborn baby has life that does not deserve to be arbitrarily taken away, why is it okay to punish them for their father's crimes when you wouldn't allow an equivalent baby to be aborted?

Abortion should be legal right up until delivery, because it's not and should not be about laws. It's about medical procedure and the health of those involved. No doctor worth their practice would think a late-term elective abortion a good idea, and would only perform them under serious medical risk to the mother.

The question should not be "at what point does the government step in with laws" and should be "are we willing to trust potential mothers and medical professionals to collectively make sound medical decisions"?

Do you think you know better than (other?) women what they should do with their uterus, or are you just devoid of empathy?

If you don't think abortion is ethical don't have one.

Why should there be an elective time period? At what arbitrary point in development does the baby's life become worth protecting? It is a unique human life form from the point of conception. If you won't let them kill it at some point, why let them kill it at all? Unless the reasoning goes beyond it being about the immorality of taking an innocent life.
