a lot of sports fans find it disrespectful and I agree with them

at least wear a hat and show that you actually care about whats going on in the game

I have been to many games and most times, people in plain clothes arent that interested in the game and are just taking up space and wasting a seat that can go to someone else who really wants to be there

Says who? Your arbitrary standards?

Also a shit take. Unless the stadium is 100% full, this is just bullshit.

What a terrible bunch of opinions. They paid for a ticket, that's supporting the team.

@meestermj

Them paying for the ticket is not always necessarily the case. Sometimes their company paid for it and theyre just going just because even if they can care less about whats going there.

Source: It happens in Warriors and 49ers games all the damn time. Some people dont even watch the game and are just there to hang with their friends.

I always throw up colors because Im a super fan. And if a bro is acting like a super fan and wearing some mongoose shirt or whatever shit Im going to send his ass to the shop. At least offer to paint his chest. Now, if they are just there to enjoy the game or just came with some friends, they are none of my business and as a super fan I should be extra respectful toward them within reason.

i think people should be able to attend anything without being forced to do anything, especially if they're just there to have a good time

but as a fan of a team, nothing is going to stop me from representing the team, if i want to

It depends on what team the fan in attendance is a fan of. If it is a hostile environment, wearing stuff from the visiting team is an extremely bad idea.

For example, Ohio State Football fans (well a majority of them) are extremely hostile to fans of visiting teams. It is a mentality here in Columbus that you must like Ohio State above all other teams. It's really sad and the fans will go nuts (intended) regardless of the result of the game.

I don't see why it matters. I don't own any sports apparel and I don't feel like buying any. That doesn't mean I'm not invested in the game when I go to one.

Im surprised because a lot of sports fans think like this

Hell when I go to games and none of the teams playing are my team, I always wear the home teams merchandise out of respect to the team (unless its a team I despise then id wear the opposite team)

I don't see the point in wasting time caring about things like this. It doesn't affect you or your enjoyment of the game, so who cares?

In some ways I get irked by it because people like them are the reason sports game tickets are so unaffordable and that it gets harder every year for me to afford to attend games.

Real fans cant afford them because of people like them.

I never go to games, but if someone offers to take me, and I cannot find the jersey that I have no I idea where it is, I'm not gonna go out and buy a hat just so people will know I am a fan.

Assuming they're not "real fans" because they're not wearing merch is just... oy, I'll stick to the "ridiculous" I used earlier.

Obviously depends on how popular the team is but in most cases they will always find a taker

in most cases, what I said is on point. I have been to a lot of games when I randomly talk to people that I sit near and most of the time, ones that dont wear merch dont know much of anything about the team.

If by a lot, you mean a very small minority (because let's be honest, as crazy as it is, there are crazy people out there who would think like this), then sure.
