The seeming inability to make any good content outside of Batman (with a few exceptions), the way they completely botched their cinematic universe despite having access to the most popular media icons of all time, mandates that prevent DC merchandise from having firearms as an accessory (collectibles for characters like Red Hood aren't even allow to have pistols) and let's not even talk about what an embarassment the CW shows are.

Why is WB like this

I will say, that the majority of the DC animated films are pretty badass.

Which is what makes their "Cinematic Universe" being so shit even more baffling.

Their cartoons are pretty great, make the characters compelling and tell a decent story (for what it is, anyway) and then they just seem completely unable or unwilling to translate that to film.

Okay I will agree with you there, I've been watching through the DCAMU movies over the past few days and it really is excellent.

And I fucking loved the two Long Halloween movies.

I think its because the movies are made for adults, but characters like Batman and Superman are made for kids. Its like trying to make a Pokmon movie for adults. Its not going to work. Comics and comic book characters are for kids.

They fucked up the core DCEU but I think they're mostly fine.

Like shit on the CW all you want but those were several successful shows based around superheroes before the streaming wars even became a thing. They figured out the live action TV show thing first. Sure they have low budgets and most got lame after a while but that's often the case for shows like that. Even the Netflix Marvel shows all had a shitty season and they barely lasted.

I also think Peacemaker and Doom Patrol are better than any of the Disney+ Marvel shows personally.

What's funny is that the only good movies are the ones that barely acknowledge the shared universe. Shazam, Joker, The Batman and The Suicide Squad are some of my favorite CBMs of the past few years.

For real. They should really just stick with this style, as it works great for them. Give a vague nod if they want, I guess, but anything more seems to make them take a shit on the whole thing.

I haven't seen much of Doom Patrol, but yeah, I do agree with the sentiment that Peacemaker is better than the Disney+ MCU content so far.
I might end up ranking Moon Knight higher though because I'm biased lol.

It's not that. It's that they perpetually get people who don't understand or respect the characters and source material. Anybody could tell you that getting a guy who idolizes Ayn Rand to direct Superman is an awful idea.

Moon Knight is shaping up to be decent and Wanda and Vision did try to do something totally different, but yeah almost every Marvel Disney+ show usually goes bleh near the end. HBO Max originals of DC have been fantastic (Peacemaker was great start to finish).

That's one thing I'll give DC over Marvel. They're a lot more willing to be experimental and push boundaries and they really commit to their ideas.

I liked all of the Disney+ shows to varying degrees, but they all have the same problem of starting out with a really unique/interesting premise or idea but the final episode devolves into typical safe Disney stuff.

For example, I really liked the trippy, psychological-thriller-comedy aspect of WandaVision but then the finale is just...two people shooting fireballs at each other. Or how FATWS was seemingly willing to address complex socio-geopolitical issues, before they threw all of the nuance out the window and had the Flagsmashers murder innocent people for no reason to invalidate their otherwise valid and even agreeable ideology.

They make dumb decisions, for sure. They also butchered BvS for the theatrical cut and competely ruined it. They're the reason Josstice League existed at all. They do have a lot of really cool things going these days, though.

Tbh, even the BvS Extended Cut didn't do it for me. I do not like this version of Superman (even though I think Henry Cavill has the potential to be a great Superman) and while the fight scenes with Batman are really well done, seeing Robert Pattinson's take really made me realize how bad the Snyderverse interpretation of Batman is by comparison.

I have. And my stance has certainly lightened up a bit since I've enjoyed a fair bit of the recent DC stuff.

But something tells me it's only a matter of time before WB screws up the things I actually liked.

The new Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were both amazing, and the new Batman movie seems to have mostly positive responses from the audience. Seems like they are trending in the right direction.

Like I said before it's easy to see why people think the whole WB/DC is fucking up when the thing that has the most visibility like the movies had such a garbage start. But they are more than just the movies. And a lot of the other content they have has been good and/or well received

Peacemaker, Doom Patrol, the CW stuff has been mostly trash for a good while besides Superman & Lois, Stargirl and Black Lightning. The cartoons have been pretty good like Young Justice and Harley Quinn. Plus they're making a damn Kite-Man show. KITE-MAN! Teen Titans Go is still going after a million years lol.

They might have fucked up Justice League but they're still taking chances on other IP besides Batman. Be it on TV or movies with Blue Beetle coming out. The next Shazam. Aquaman. We're getting a Wonder Woman game after all these years. But it's just easy to shit on them cause of the Snyderverse crap

There are way too many universes. I can't keep track of it all. Apparently there is a Batgirl series coming out that's a sequel to the 1980s Batman and it's sequel, but not the two films that were sequels to that. The current Batman is also some other universe. Joker was some other universe. Justice League is also another universe I think? TV shows also another universe? Honestly I have no idea what is connected to what.
