I've only played KH1 and Chain of Memories, and knowing what the series has become since those two games, I'm tempted in a morbid sense to watch this video, but five+ hours is a damn commitment.

Spending 5 hours watching a video is a wasted effort on something that was itself a wasted effort.

I had this on as background noise a couple weeks ago, it actually got me in the mood to replay the game which ended up being a lot better than I remember. \_()_/

I can enjoy the occasional lengthy analysis video, but it needs to be way more fucking concise than five+ hours. You can do a proper analysis of something and it be roughly an hour long.

You could spend those 5 hours just playing the game and finding out how much of a disappointment it is on your own lol

I REALLY hate this trend. Ever since TLJ came out, videos like this are common for more than just movies.

I couldn't imagine ranting for five hours about anything -- unless I had someone else to argue with.

Accurate. This isn't even true with KH1 and KH2. There's cheesiness, but the writing is just fucking leagues better. The characters have actual personality.

Sora is so goddamn stupid in KH3.

Ill never waste an opportunity to bitch about how they had such a good, unique idea in Kingdom Hearts. They literally had the keys to the Disney Kingdom.

And instead Nomura decided his absolute horseshit, nonsensical fanfiction was what people showed up to these games for. What an absolute buffoon.

In fairness to him, I think "keys to the Disney Kingdom" is a bit of a stretch. I imagine the reason the story does focus so much on original characters is that Disney is more than a little draconian about what they can and cannot do. It's been suggested that the Frozen world was actually supposed to have Elsa as the main villain, but Disney said no. That would explain some of the weird shit there like a villain with lightning powers trapping you into an ice dungeon.

One of the worst things was the constant hints and sequel baiting. We knew before hand from Nomura that KH3 wasn't the end and that it would continue, we got that. You would think at the end of this particular saga you would tie up all the loose ends while still leaving some subtle hints for the future.

But KH3 leaves even more loose ends than it ties up. Doesn't help that the overall important plot info is relegated to a mobile game and a few second long cutscenes until the very end where you're bombarded with all this exposition.

Only problem is, to most people that exposition makes 0 sense.

When I say keys to the Disney kingdom Im aware they arent free to do whatever the hell they want, theyre very protective of their IP.

And yet that right there is my point. The fact that they even could make a game with all the characters and worlds they were given. Even if it was directly movie scenes recreated for the game, it still was amazing to see. And have their own blend of Japanese storytelling and characters merged in there is so unique and interesting.

There needed to be some glue to build off of, connect these worlds and create a story that Disney wouldnt have shot down or took their own control of. Its just such a damn shame that the glue be so moronic and convoluted that it completely tarnished the whole idea. I would never recommend Kingdom Hearts to the millions of casual Disney fans because of all that BS.

Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out 13 years after 2 contributed to my lack of attachment and interest in the convoluted plot. Its been 13 years since I was in college. If I ran into someone I knew from college 13 years ago, they wouldnt even know me anymore.

Yo that sounds epic. A boss theme for Elsa by Yoko Shimomura sounds fucking amazing. I don't play KH but this is a huge missed opportunity if true.

As a $5-$10 game its pretty good.

The world just suddenly makes a lot more sense if you think of it that way. You just don't include Hans because he has no dialogue anyway. Ann or Kristoff is your partner. The ice maze thing is actually the ice castle she makes. And the storyline is about Elsa battling the darkness in her heart which eventually coalesces as the wolf Heartless.

A five hour analysis on a video game is a bigger wasted effort than kingdom hearts could ever hope to be

I did actually watch the video and agree with most of his points. The gameplay was horribly balanced until the dlc. The story is a poorly paced dumpster fire the last world and many of the world's and mini games were some of the worst in the series.

I like KH3 Re:Mind more than KH2FM but I like base KH2 more than base KH3. But the first game is better than both.

Honestly I had this play in the background while doing homework. Yeah, it couldve been more concise but I generally agree with what he said. And the video isnt coming strictly from a place of negativity.

I mean, after 5 hours Id hope hed hit on just about everything that was disappointing about KH3 but length aside I didnt hate the video.

I like the concept of the idea but 5 hours is a long time to consume supplementary media for a game I didn't even bother to play.
