I played San Andreas for a while and it was worse than even the 360 and mobile versions. The draw distance alone completely kills the vibe and makes it worse.

Definitively shit that's somehow worse than the original version that's 20 years old. Rockstar dropped the fucking ball big time.

The only people who defend the games are either trolls or people who never played the original versions of the games.

the driving is what kills definitive for me. it just feels awful.

@Southernfatman The fact that they worked on this for over TWO YEARS, and it still looks and plays like shit, it does not look great, it looks like something a pissed off intern would have done, I dont even know how to code and I could have done a way better job, and in less time

Take the THPS remasters, those both look and play great, they run on the same UE version, the difference is Activision actually had the common sense to do a remaster correctly, something Rockstar still can not do apparently

I love it lol. It's so weird. I totally agree it's not a $60 game and there are many legitimate complaints but like...it isn't THAT bad and there are many QoL improvements that really transform the game.

Yeah, $60 was a bit much, I was a bit disappointed in what we got, and there are legitimate complaints, but it really isn't that bad. People are acting like they're all complete garbage. And you're right that the improvements really breathe a new life into he game.

Off topic, but I got the trilogy on PS4 last year, dont remember what I payed. Does anyone know what it!s ported from? The only thing that bothered me is that in SA theres a weird static like effect whenever it rains.

Of course. I actually like with the weapon wheel; the radio wheel is cool as well, but I wish it indicated which station you are on and I also wish they didn't swap the D Pad buttons from V. But if it isn't for you, then it is what it is.
-the quicker load times between everything--entering/exiting, loading saves, mission cutscenes, going in and out of cities, etc
-the aiming system is loads better, IMO. It isn't perfect, but I definitely had more fun and an easier time with some of the BS parts where you're getting shot up while the camera is looking awkard
-checkpoint and autosave system. Until I'm loaded with cash to where I can buy guns and ammo back, I usually load if I'm busted or wasted. But this system will bring you back to the end of your last mission competed.

I wanna say there is more, but I think this may be it.

Yes. The draw distance is far greater, which makes the game look so much worse. You can see the entire map from the top of a building. The original game hides how small the map is through deliberate design *and* the draw distance hiding how close you are to everything. I think it does add somewhat of a charm when approaching a city--though more evident in VC and 3. That "city in the distance" feel.

But I do agree, it's terrible in SA when you are high up, especially in a plane.

Dude then I say no flying unless you need to cross the map because the short draw distance in the original made it literally super difficult to pick up and play with the pop up and shitty looking environment from inside a car or on foot

What differences did you notice?

I played and beat 3, VC, and SA old and new.

Honestly i thought out of the 3 definitive editions VC held up the most, and i didnt have any complaints.

That's pretty much how I've been playing. I mean, it's not gamebreaking. It's just kinda ...

But the draw distance increase is great on foot and in car.

You can tell what users haven't played the originals, the definitive editions are trash because of many issues including being a port of the mobile versions. That's all they are, they're not better than the original versions. The handling for vehicles is garbage and controls exactly like a mobile game does.

The weapon wheel is nice as is the radio wheel but that doesn't make up for how bad the games are. There is NO excuse for how bad the games turned out.

Nah, the handling is better than ever, IMO. I've probably cruised around more in San Andreas with a tuner car than I ever did playing the older ones.

i've been playing for a bit and tbh, the only things that bothered me were how stupid some of the character models look and some odd visual glitches. haven't caught any sort of bugs that interfered with the gameplay itself. other than that, i like these new improvements like the weapon or radio wheel and driving with the bottom right trigger. while the shooting might be slightly improved, it still feels a bit off putting tho...

I don't really give a shit about graphics. How are the controls? If they improved camera usage, I can stomach the rest.

The gym mechanics aren't improved at all, having an opinion isn't trolling just because you disagree with it and the handling isn't better than ever. The handling feels like it's from a mobile game because that's it exactly what it is.

1. There's not a lot of differences from the mobile port and 2. No they're not, the originals are better,despite the problems with the originals they play better.

The mobile ports and these versions are just soulless cash grabs with minimal effort put into them.

I also played it on PSNow. I also thought it was trash.

Yeah, I meant the mobile versions are better than the definitive editions. They maintain more of the original graphical style and have less bugs. It's still choosing between solid shit and diaorrheoa compared to the originals.

I'm very disappointed in it. I was willing to spend full price on a remastered version of games that I love, especially with updated gameplay elements. It's like they took crude but tasty soup stock and rendered it with dish water. Glad I waited for reviews.

I enjoyed the San Andreas remaster, but my save file would corrupt every other day. Super annoying.

No wonder it sucks. The devopment studio is a bit of a joke.

I played VC, and made it through the entire story for the first time. I always got sidetracked on previous attempts on the original ages ago. I encountered no bugs or crashes, or really anything that detracted from my experience (other than some missions being as frustrating as they ever were). The graphics weren't anything special but definitely a step up from the original. I didn't give a shit that it was an upscaled mobile port (or whatever it was), it was the same fun game that I remember, with some nice QOL improvements. And that's all I wanted. If III and San Andreas are the same then it's money well spent.
