Car registration. I swear to god the vast majority of cars I see in my state have expired registration on their cars. Do police actually pull over for that or even monitor?

Yes. My brother was in the military and asked me to run errands at least once a month in his car while he was overseas. The car was plated in another state and I had no idea how to read the tags - or even the notion to look at the tags. A cop followed me for 10 minutes then lit me up.

$269, IIRC.

Nowadays a lot of states are/were having trouble getting tags out due to the pandemic and several law enforcement agencies (in CA at least) have said that they won't pull someone over solely for expired tags.

I wouldn't bet on it though.

No but I had to go through a police checkpoint for those and safety inspections once as a passenger.

I was once. I tend to not renew them because I hate the city I live in and they can suck it.
I'm going to amass a huge water bill and stiff them when I leave. I hate this tax-ridden hellhole.

A couple of times. Once in my parents' car when they hadn't put a sticker on and once when my sticker fell off because I decided to put it on at 5 in the morning in freezing temperatures.

The only time I ever let my registration expire I did get pulled over and ticketed. My dad was the registered owner though and I showed up to court with proof of renewal and the fine got waived.

In Texas like 10% of the cars are driving on fake paper tags so I don't think cops give a shit about it.

Never. I want to give them as little reason to pull me over as possible. They definitely go after people for expired tags. They may have eased up on it due to Covid though.

Mine is currently expired but I'll be moving states soon and don't feel like paying. Especially since the costs will be much cheaper in the new state I'm going to...

Or can I get the money back somehow when doing taxes?

I think I did once, that is one thing they don't like.

Another time, someone hit my car in the parking lot and I didn't find out until like 1:50 AM.
I filed a report just in case...though even though that place has literally thousands of cameras, a casino, they couldn't help me out...naturally. >_> ((Just like when someone stole my phone))

Anyway, while he was doing his paper work he noticed my registration was over due...by like two weeks.

When he came in to give me his paper work he notified my of that...then said, ya, it is not good through the month like an inspection. Though he went on to say, "You've a bad enough day, so just get that done very soon" He was pretty cool tbh.

I'm glad I filed the report though because I got pulled over for not having my front license plate on....really it was a glorified DWI stop, as it was again coming home from work in the middle of the night.
Again that cop was cool, he explained that putting it in the window wasn't enough...though I had it with me but on the floor. He just said, "Figure out a way to get in on there or else you are going to keep getting pulled over" But he wasn't say that top be a dick.

((Oh, I should say, the damage was mostly cosmetic but it pulled off the front molding, which is where the plate was attached))

I haven't been bc I keep my car registered like a responsible adult, but cops routinely pull people over for it bc it's the easiest way to catch meth heads.
