Dumbledore's hot steamy makeout seshes with Grindelwald are literally the turning point for the character in his youth, explaining the kind of character he used to be and why he made the choices he did in the series proper.

The only vaguely political part about it is when he was giving his bf propoganda pointers on how subjugating muggles was "for the greater good"

Because you're nitpicking. It's an example where their sexual orientation doesn't enhance/develop the character or the media and is simply tacked on to "pander".

sexuality doesnt need to enhance or develop a character
its just something a character is
that would be like saying a character cant be blonde unless it enhances/develops their character

last night i ate a sandwich and even though my sexuality didnt affect the way i chewed i was still gay
but if i was a fictional character the sandwich scene would just be pandering?

Right. In situations where this is the case, thats fine

Remember when God of War pandered by including a sex minigame? Like what the fuck did that add to the game? How was his sexuality relevant to the plot? Was the game better for letting us know how straight be was?

Also, did I play the wrong Borderlands series?

And 99.9% of gay characters are indistinguishable from straight characters in how the divulging of that fact is "pandering" or "political".

Will you or anyone else finally articulate what political statement is being made by all the gay pandering that supposedly exists?

Why aren't we mad at how many characters are human beings with recognizable real world attributes? Games shouldn't be real. These skin colors and genders and nationalities are political bullshit I want to escape from, not be reminded of.

I mean what exactly about pandering is wrong? Pandering having gays is wrong but this game pandering to guys who love sexy women in high heels is okay?

Also like I said the reason we think straights are "apolitical" because we're all programmed to think like that since we were kids. Also like someone pointed out, LGBTQ+ characters are almost indistinguishable from straight characters from looking at them so sometimes characters having throwaway lines or some text of dialogue or something saying or implying their sexuality. The only time I think it can be a detriment to the story if it degrades into "tokenism".
