Actually, it's not uncommon for people to invite homeless people into there house for both positive and negative reasons. My stepmom let a homeless woman stay in our garage for several months and she'd come in to use the shower and bathroom. She was extremely schizophrenic and she eventually caused enough problems that we had to move her into a shelter. But, on the other side, I've known people to take advantage of homeless people, either sexually or through forced labor (there was a story about this in England recently).

She should have remembered self preservation the moment she even considered this. Many homeless people have mental issues and crazy people do crazy shit like stabbing or cutting your throat.

You can show kindness in safe ways. Don't invite a homeless person into your house for a home cooked meal. Instead, donate to local charities dedicated to feeding the less fortunate. Or at the very least buy them a meal in a public place with lots of people around.

I hate when human generosity is punished.

And San Francisco is asking people to bring the homeless into their homes.

It is their risk to take, and if it ends badly oh well they made their choice.

I'm all for helping the homeless but you can't just let strangers enter your home.

that's the wrong thing to do imo. maybe for family and very good friends that's pretty much it.
did give out some canned dog food to a homeless person to feed his dog. even though it growled. i'm sure it appreciates it.
