There was a lot of buzz back on January 1st when a set of achievements for GoldenEye 007 on Xbox were discovered along with a bunch of images, and now it looks like we'll finally get official news on the remaster very soon.

As reported by VGC, it was stated by VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb on the latest episode of the Giant Bomb "Grubbsnax" show that he believes the game's reveal "is probably coming pretty soon, Im thinking next couple of weeks," with Grubb also suggesting that Microsoft will reveal it rather than Nintendo.

In regards to the latter, VGC also says it's heard Microsoft will be the one to announce the remaster.

We're still not quite sure what to expect from the release, although the leaked screenshots appear to suggest it will simply be an HD touch-up of the original N64 version, rather than based on the cancelled Xbox 360 remaster / remake.

As soon as we get more details on this one, we'll be sure to let you know. Let's hope it's soon!

I really really hope this happens. Goldeneye is way too important of a game to only be relegated to emulators or 25yo hardware

I don't get why people get so upset about this. If you don't want it then you don't have to play it. There is a ton of new games out there that you can play. Not everything has to be for you

Curious to see how this will release. Will it be a new release on Xbox, PC and Switch? Included with Game Pass? Will Switch just get it on Nintendo Online Expansion? Hell will Switch get it at all? Xbox seems to be the only actual confirmed platform due to the achievement leak.

I'll pay $60 for it.

Kind of sad if they're honestly just doing a slight touchup instead of the remake, considering the remake was basically done.

either way its nice people get to play goldeneye on a controller that doesnt suck without having to emulate finally. if they can do that and fix the framerate it would be perfect

That remake is probably somewhere in Activision.

I suppose Microsoft could wait another year or so lol

The Wii one was pretty good
