Is it a good thing phones are starting to ship without their respective chargers?

Hopefully I get one without any QA issues and such. And yeah I bought the charger... sold separately because it's 2022. I have a quick charger but it isn't quick enough to take advantage of the charging on the Pixel entirely.

I'm in the market for a new phone myself, was considering a Pixel 6, but not having a headphone jack is a dealbreaker for me

I bought a Pixel 5A on black friday and it already had a charger inside the same box as the phone. I guess this is a new thing then to cut cost?

Yeah, I have a $8 usb-c to headphone jack adapter. I figured I never charge while using headphones anyways so it shouldn't be too big of a deal for me. Still, no excuse for headphone jack deletion.

Yeah if you're charging it overnight I guess it wouldn't make much of a difference. Which Pixel are you using now?

Most of the big tech companies are saying it is for sustainability and reduce e-waste but it definitely reduces cost.

I contemplated the pixel bud a-series, but my wired headphones are pretty nice so.

They've already issued updates to fix glaring bugs, so I have some confidence they will continue to iron out bugs in the future given the generous support window. I admit their December update could have went better, but they did put a pause on it and rolled it over once they became aware of issues.

I've always used the latest galaxy. Is switching to pixel a good idea?

If you're happy with the Galaxy line I don't see why you would switch tbh. The newest Galaxy phones just dropped so they are fresh, even more fresh than the Pixel. I've just never been much for Galaxy phones because I don't want to buy into their ecosystem of applications and such, but if you're already in it maybe it's best to stay.

I bought mainly for magic eraser, night sight, action pan and long exposure features.

While I feel like the Pixel has done better overall for various reasons which one is actually better changes constantly. I can't comment about the 6 but I felt that the Pixel 1 and 3 did better than the Galaxy counterparts, the 2 and 4 were equal, and the 5 was worse. At the same time what you value in the phone changes which you want to focus on. Part of the reason I'm not as much a fan of the 5 is the audio quality of it is pretty poor (even outside of the comparison to the Galaxy), but if you use headphones that goes away and the fact that its overall speed + feel are better could be potentially relevant things that would make the Pixel more appealing.
