Housing, which was already prohibitively expensive is skyrocketing even further out of reach for most people, and for some reason we cant get approval to build apartment complexes because the people that already do own homes dont want supply to increase and lower the value of their properties.

Even with political strife and climate change, things are WAY BETTER than they were in the past. It used to the norm for countries to be at war every year after winter. Plagues and disease would routinely wipe out HUGE percentages of a country's population. Genocide and clearcutting of wilderness with almost no governmental oversight was commonplace.

Honestly, yeahI feel the same way. Its put me into a terribly dark place the past couple of years. Ive considered some pretty awful things because of it, and were it not for my wife, decisions would be a lot easier to make.

Many of the problems in the OP are apparent whether you watch the news or not.

I dont need to watch television to know that prices of every day items are going up. Cost of housing and vehicles has exploded to insane levels. Some areas have homes selling $200k over the asking price which was previously unheard of. My vehicle is apparently worth more now than when I bought it 3 years ago brand new.

Ability to gain wealth is seriously hindered when you consider these things as well.
