Especially multiworld or even multi game randos. Never thought I would have as much fun with Pokemon, Zelda, or Super Metroid as the first time I played them, but they're pretty much countless hours of entertainment. And the fact that you can find items for another person playing a totally different game is just mind boggling

More games need to come with built in randomizers. Only one that comes to mind atm is Bloodstained

I'm pretty sure Resident Evil 2 on the N64 has a randomizer, haven't played that mode yet though.

They do yeah. Some have some quirks, but they usually get ironed out pretty fast. The oldest randomizers (like LttP, OoT, Super Metroid) are pretty much guaranteed to give you a beatable run every time

For people that know exploits, though, there's full random/no logic modes where glitches may be required

It's case by case. For example, the OoT randomizer has tame options like Dungeon items only in dungeons, or can only get kid Link items in kid Link world.

But you can crank it up to have all items randomized with Kokiri Forest and Door of Time opened for the start, but with normal logic so that you don't get fucked over (ie: not having the bow locked behind an eye switch you have to shoot or something). Then you can have it randomized more, but with glitch logic where as long as you can reach areas with known glitches, anything can be there. Finally, they have an option for no logic, where it is possible to fuck over your game, but if it doesn't it's truly an accomplishment to beat it.

There's also other side options, like having keys/maps for certain dungeons appear literally anywhere in the game world, have gold skulltulas drop items instead of tokens, skipping all cutscenes, having your d-pad as hotkeys for boot-swapping and the Ocarina >_> It's crazy the amount of customization you can do with it.

Yeah, I unironically put a OoT rom through the randomizer client, but with no randomization just so I can have access to that d-pad hotkey. It makes the vanilla game so much better

Fuckin Dark Souls has one on PC lol

My most favorite is the Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past festive randomizers.

Opening wrapped gifts in the game is such a treat.

Game even out yet and I can't wait for the Elden Ring randomizer

Yeah, like that one poster said: the established randomizers are really locked in and have a plethora of features and QoL improvements

Super Metroid rando lets you play as a Windows 95 cursor, that turns into the spinning hourglass when Samus spin jumps

Years of ToeJam and Earl have made me hate / fear the word randomizer

I often wonder how a Dead Rising one would work.
I know I've seen an item randomiser but scoops and the survivors the offer appearing in a random order could be interesting. Or really frustrating.
