the most valuable cards are "1st edition" prints that were printed like 20 years ago. They don't print those ones anymore. and for them to be in perfect (grade 10) condition after so long because they are "just cardboard" is massive too. As it happens the newer pokemon cards already crashed in value with battle styles and that wasn't the first time for it to have happened.
