I don't like defending Nintendo, but Wii Sports was one of the biggest selling titles in the last 15 years. That it took this long to make an actual sequel for it is astounding.

The game was a separate release in Japan instead of a pack-in, and it still sold very well over there.

They're hyped for a game that was legitimately fun on the Wii (and Sports Resort was fairly fun too). I'm not seeing the issue here.

They made lots of sequels in the Wii series, including like 2 other Wii Sports I think?

TCs clearly not in the target demographic of this game though and just wants to throw a (Wii) fit over it.

Nintendo has a ton of studios. While there is the main Nintendo development company, it's composed of several development teams on top of having a number of subsidiaries and affiliates. And among Nintendo's inhouse studios, there's always a group that works on low budget experimental games like LABO or Wii Sports, and this is most likely an output from them. So what if this dude wants Wii Sports Part 3? There are other games and other studios to follow and Wii Sports is not going to take up much resources or affect other games' development pipeline. For instance, Monolith soft's Xenoblade 3 had a couple buddies of mine elated and analyzing every frame of the trailer and shocked the release date is set for September. Conversely us FE fans are busy sulking that Intelligent Systems has yet to offer anything new while we're getting another Warriors games, expanding the 3 Houses universe (and now setting the precedent for even more Edelgard alts for the Heroes mobile game, to our chagrin).

I dont have kids and even I can see how things like TikTok is terrible for children. Getting them comfortable with TikTok when theyre young makes it much easier to exploit them in a couple of years.

I really wanted Avengers to be great since Im a huge marvel nerd. Its funny that you remember that piece of it so vividly and not all the times I mentioned how while it had some merit, was ultimately very disappointing.

and

Star Citizen is also easily the most impressive video game tech out there currently, and Im so unaffected about how long its taking to develop. I dont do anything differently in my life and every once and a while I check back into the game to enjoy some really cool shit that no other game is doing.

Nintendo is a video game icon and If you didnt grow up in their prime your childhood was garbage.

Yet somewhere they stopped actually being a great company and settled for pushing out mediocre titles on gimmicky hardware. Yet they continue to live in this vacuum where, despite all the growth happening around them, Nintendo gets away with doing the bare minimum now. If even that sometimes, see their absolute garbage online features still in 2022. That bothers me a lot and I will never not take an opportunity to bitch about their decline.

This is pointing out simply how Wii Sports is something ONLY Nintendo could have somehow made a phenomenon . At best its decent but forgettable fun and basically free mini games that came with the most popular console of all time. You would put on bowling for 20 minutes and get bored and never touch it again for months. Be real now.

Wii sports fills a much needed gap of in person cooperative games that anyone can enjoy. But it is by no means a good game by itself.

And on literally any other platform no one would have actually gave a shit and people would see it for what it is. Pretty basic and low effort.

I wholeheartedly agree with TC but I think an argument can be made that Rockstar can give Nintendo a fun for their money

No one's threatened, it just takes a lot more effort (and may be entirely unsuitable in certain situations) to watch a video than to quickly read a few words of text.

It's the same reason why a lot of people wish video tutorials would fuck the hell off and text-based ones would make a comeback.

At this point, I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

It's been almost five years since the Switch launched, and there's still no word on that, so either Nintendo or Netflix (or both) are not interested.
