The 3d artstyle is pretty whack tho tbh. The sprites that they've always had were what got me into the series in the first place

Might be a while before I pick it up, but hell yes! Figured a PC port would happen soon. At least Playstation.

I'm very, very mildly interested in this. Honestly, the game looked pretty middling regardless, but the apparent bad technical issues on Switch were a dealbreaker. I may just get it down the road now that it's on something else.

If by 2 you mean D2 sure, but 2 is the Metal Gear Solid 2 of the series

Heard it wasn't as good as the previous. Was really looking forward to it as well >_>

At least it comes with all of the dlc

Glad I skipped out on the initial release, can't wait on the PS4 ver.

Heard this one was particularly bad

I'll probably grab, but yeah, this shit was pretty fucking bad and I put a lot of time in it. Auto play just added unnecessary zeros.

Though I think it was worse because it ran like absolute shit.

D3 was the worst in my opinion, followed by D2.

How was disgaea after the second one anyway? loved the first game, didn't care as much about the second one.

I liked 5 a lot.

How come Disgaea 3 is the only one that hasn't been ported to PC?

Sucks that 6 seems to be pretty bad. 5 was my first one. Downloaded a demo back when I first got my PS4 because I had mistaken it for Dissidia. Was completely confused when I started the demo, and generally I don't like strategy/tactical RPGs too much, but I fell in love with Disgaea 5 and immediately got the game.

NIS is weird like that. D2 also hasn't been on anything but the PS3 and the only Disgaea I've never played because of that.

I absolutely loved all the games up to 5, this one looks so bad though.

Also the auto-play option puts me off. Reminds me of the systems they put in Gatcha games. Ugh.

The later games add some pretty dramatic quality of life improvements such as being able to move a character again without having to undo their previous move. They also added a "cheat shop" for doing things like increasing enemy level so you don't have to constantly pass bills to level grind. I also like the ability to equip monsters as weapons for shared XP and bonus damage. From a gameplay perspective each game is generally an improvement on the prior and honestly the franchise as a whole makes it really hard for me to go back and play more traditional tactics games. It feels a little bit like going from final fantasy 7 to the NES version of final fantasy 1.

In terms of story, nothing ever quite hits the same highs as the first game. Three was pretty fun, I have yet to play 4 but I hear it's nice, and I found five pretty boring. Each new game does come with a cast of quirky and charming characters, though, so the spirit of Disgaea lives strong even if the writing isn't that great.

Disgaea 4 Complete+ did terrible so it's unlikely
