Started working in an office job recently. I have literally no idea when to leave as nobody has told me. I used to work in retail where I was scheduled certain times and I knew it was time to leave when the guy who had the next shift came in after to start his shift. So far, I've been coming to the office just before 9 am and I have been leaving around 7-8 pm. I think this is a 9-5 job but I'm not sure. The office starts to get empty around 5 pm but nobody seems to really kick me out or tell me I should leave. What do I do?

If you're getting paid by the hour then you should have an actual start and end time. If you're salary, then you just come and go as you please so long as you're getting your work done. But since you're new, I think it's a good idea to do what you're doing right now. Just get your work done, that's all they care about.

I'd probably ask someone, like your manager or whoever.

Stay until the work gets done, unless your manager says otherwise.

What kinda office work are we talking about here? Is your manager on-site or located elsewhere?

Whatever your contract says. If there is no actual time like 9 to 5 on the contract and just 40 hours. Ask your manager but make sure to no be there more than 40 hours or you are working for free.
