Watched this out of curiosity. First time watching a South Park episode in like 15 years. Christ it was not good. Terrible even. I think the only part I kind of laughed at was the guy trying to get into the restaurant.

The whole allegory of it all was just terrible. Reminds me of the same way I felt about the "manbearpig" thing. They show absolutely no understanding of the issue they're trying to lampoon

Also most of the characters sound different now and it's weird. I guess the creators voices changed and prob some other different voice actors

Someone didnt watch the pandemic specials where they made fun of people not wearing masks aka chin diaper. Also people are arguing with a new account with more active posts then most regulars on this board lol.

They have always identified as republican and have always blasted both ends of the spectrum, as they did in the latest episode as well

I havent watched the new ep yet but Im assuming their current covid stance is that people should wear masks and get vaxxed if they want but now any mandates is just too far and too destructive since obviously were not going ever get covid pay or stimulus ever again.

Its like people know the risks by now, let them life how they want.

This isnt an anti mask or vac stance.

letting people "life how they want" brings risks to more than just themselves though, it brings risks to everyone they come into contact with. why should they get to live their life how they want when them doing so endangers everyone else around them?

None of this changes the fact that masks only work when they're actually worn.
I never said they didn't. I did remind you that the masked person walking is protecting the unmasked.

Does it matter how long you sit unmasked if you sit 6 feet away without a mask? Is covid like gas fumes or does it travel a set distance?

Covid is airborne. It hangs around, and spreads, through the air - yeah, gas fumes would actually be a pretty good comparison tbh. Including to the extent of "it takes time to dissipate". And to keep going with that analogy, you're not really gonna prevent much exposure just by waiting a minute longer to open the fume source or closing it off a minute early.

And for that matter, in an enclosed space with relatively limited airflow (ie: this does not necesserially hold true for an outdoor environment), staying six feet apart isn't really going to do much either. Just like how staying six feet away from a source of gas fumes won't either. (Now, if there's ventilation set up in a way that prevents the fumes from travelling those six feet towards you, that's another matter. As it would be with covid, too.)

If you were wondering, the whole "six feet" thing originated back when covid had not yet been recognized as airborne, and was thought to primarily spread through large droplets. It doesn't really achieve that much. Masks on the other hand do, because they catch a lot of the virus particles and prevent them getting into the air in the first place - but they can only do that when they're worn. And wearing them for 2 minutes out of half an hour is not gonna provide much reduction in exposure. They make sense for places where they can actually be kept on the whole time (or at least the vast majority of the time), eg. retail stores; not so much for places where they're going to be off most of the time because it's not practical to keep them on. Which is also a really good reason why vaccine mandates are so much more important for places like restaurants, too.

I disagree, I think its very balanced and thats how they get away with all the shit they do and say. Turns out if you go full-assole on everyone with sometimes a moral message at the end it makes you pretty much uncancelable
