If you ever drove, biked, walked while the sun is low in the sky (and you care about seeing what is in front of you), you may have wished for smart glasses which filter out the spot where the sun is but lets you see. We have the technology to design and manufacture these smart glasses but is anyone working on it?

Yes but the patent was bought out by a parent company that has interest in sunglasses and buried it so they can maximize profits and keep selling you the same cheap plastic s***.

As awesome as this patent is ... it just darkens the glasses and is what we have in our prescription glasses now.

I am looking for an upgrade where the glass is darkened more between my eyeball and the sun so that I am not blinded by the sun but I can see everything else.

Hmm ok probably easier to just get transition eyewear for now.

That's pretty complex to calculate a line between your fovea and the sun, twice, in realtime, while somehow stuffing it all into a sunglasses frame.

but significant work has been done on eye-tracking (so they can sell you bulls*** ads in VR / AR applications).

It is not bright sunlight though. It is the sun, low in the sky, shining directly in your eye. Dimming the light means not being able to see.
