Go knock

Calling 911 for a wellness check seems like a huge overreaction. Plus they might shoot him.

Going to leave these here

no actual statistics posted either. 100 million police contacts a year across the year and were outraged about less than 5 incidents posted through out a 10 year span. Sounds like a narrative being spun. While I agree the number should be 0. Its nowhere near a problem this topic suggests

I get what you saying, but I STRONGLY stand behind using a wellness check from the cops as an absolute last resort.

Thank you for meeting me that far. Knowing the risks and making a decision to do the right thing in the best way available is important.

The fact that it's legal for cops to break into people's homes who did nothing wrong and kill them means this should absolutely be a last resort.

I posted a snarky comment earlier in this thread thinking it was just a cop bashing post. I didn't realize until I googled it how many actually end up bad. I do apologize. I should have looked it up first

Please, enlighten us. How many of the hundreds of thousands of welfare checks done across the county every year end up bad?

If youre calling the police for a welfare check, that usually is the last resort. You realize out of the millions of welfare checks conducted a year. Welfare check related homicides are in the double digits. Usually as a result of a weapon related incident.

There is no need to apologize for criticizing a cop-bashing post from a poster with a cop-bashing username. It is okay to hold people accountable for using serious situations to advance a radical social agenda.

And people that have occupations without guns or armed in any way, are not going to respond to these. Because of the inherent danger. You would be sending therapists to die by a person going through a mental health episode. Either eliminate them or entirely or just outline better tactics to avoid the few times it goes bad

There is no agenda people just dont trust the police lol

And a lot of us are totally justified in feeling that way. The online cop defense force thinks they know everything but you dont know what people have been through in real life.

Not all cops are bad, however there are tons that are corrupt snakes and rats who abuse their power.

Oh it's under 100 people being murdered by cops doing welfare check? That's cool then.

Its almost as if, theres something more than your sarcastic comment? Maybe a problem in mental health, gun control, as well as inadequate police training. As posted earlier, a cop can do everything right, yet theres still a situation where someone walks out with a firearm with the intention of killing someone

Tasings and arrests are probably more common than shootings, I'll grant you that.

What did you tell him after you knocked?
I rang the doorbell, he answered, I said I was worried about him because I didn't see him walk his dog recently, and he laughed. He said he may be old but he's not senile and thanked me for caring about him.
