A dude in a company van ran a red light and hit a woman a couple cars ahead of me pretty hard. The police were there within a few minutes. One of them wanted to see the dash cam video. He took my information down and said to save it and wait for the detective to call for it.

The woman who was hit was driving with her young son in the car. The kid seemed to be OK, but she was hurt pretty bad. She was laying on the ground complaining of back pain and pain in her lower leg.

Crazy shit. If I had left home about 30 seconds earlier, I probably would have been the one who got hit.

Distracted driving is definitely worse now with smartphones.

Dang you are very fortunate. I always worry that a person I care about will die from a vehicle accident any day now. Seen too many aftermath pics and vids. It does not look pretty most of the time.

I imagine it has something to do with criminal justice reform.

Ive seen a few bad ones.

One was a motorcycle that hit a SMART Bus at over 100mph. The guy was decapitated and his body was mangled against the bus.

The other one was a rollover on the freeway that had the guy ejected from the car. An arm and leg was ripped off the guy and he was propped up against the car with a dog sniffing him (no idea if it was his dog or what, but there were no cops there yet so it wasnt a police dog).

Pretty gory and made traffic a real bitch.

Ya know what? I noticed a huge increase in it too. I've seen it a couple times in one day. These fucking assholes are gonna kill someone and i'm gonna be none too happy if its me.

Just noticed the dog at the intersection was like "What the fuck are you doing buddy?"

I don't think he even hit the brakes. I didn't hear tires screeching. The first thing I heard was the collision, and then I saw the van go up on the curb. I had to watch the video to see what actually happened.

Hopefully she's ok and she sues the fuck out of the asshole driver, he should see jail time since he ran a red light and didn't even attempt to stop.

Yeah, I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night just thinking about that. If I had left just a little bit earlier, I'd probably be in the hospital right now instead of sitting at home and relaxing.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with that. He said she was lying about her back pain before he even saw the accident and then tried to soften it afterward. As if we aren't already aware that people fake injuries in minor accidents. This wasn't minor and I stated as such before the video.

I once screwed up my back for three days trying to towel off my legs after a shower.

I just called and sent the video to the traffic investigations unit. Hopefully that makes it easier for her to deal with insurance.
