Don't feel like tagging everything so full spoilers inbound. I've read all the books so I'm a bit of a nerd, but I really appreciated how much the movie adapted from the story. The tech was dope, especially the Ornithoper's. Baron was better than being a floating patsy. The Voice sounded evil and intense. Jessica was brilliant, and Leto's death was much better than in the book. It felt extremely minimalist and conservative but I appreciated that as, if it follows the book(s) Part 2 should be absolutely bugnuts crazy. I read that a lot of people found it too boring and slow and that makes me sad. I thought it was great.

I loved it too and am also a huge fan of the books. I really really hope this turns into a long-running series, I'd kill to see a movie adaptation of God Emperor.

i'm one of those people.

seems like it was made specifically for people that enjoyed the source material and just wanted a lot of "dune".

i just wanted a cool sci-fi flick that wasn't too much up its own ass with boring moments like the untold amount of visions of zendaya's character as if to remind everybody she's also in the movie but only actually shows up for the last 10 minutes.

maybe 2 will be better(or more fun).

I get that. It, and the visions of Jamis (in another timeline) were made to illustrate prescience without talking about it. A big theme of the book, but understated in the movie. Paul can see timelines and outcomes, but it's up to him to realize what actions lead him to what vision. For a little further spoilers, this paralyzes him and he ultimately decides to do nothing after the Jihad. It is up to his sons to follow the "golden" path.

You see him and Jamis be friends and wise together, but it doesn't happen. You see him meet Zendaya and realize that'll happen (it does) but how, and why, is ambiguous. It's cool, but also boring.

I really liked it, but I do think it was definitely building to something super big so it felt like.. aight whats next

and I worry that it wont be popular enough to finish the story

Me and several people I know that are just casually into scifi loved it. I honestly thought they'd hate it.

Once it hooks you, it's a fucking ride. I'm big into scfii, but barely into Dune, and I enjoyed it.
