when youtubers, tiktokers, or NFTers are making $5,000+ a month doing what they love.

If I am a teenager growing up in today's world, I would have zero inclination to go into corporate America when there are so many other ways one could make money on Web 3.0.

Same reason nobody here is a famous actor or musician.

I know Youtubers and Tiktokers are a damning indictment of everything around us but even they don't deserve to be lumped in with NFT fuckers.

On the surface being a YouTuber/gamer/streamer sounds like a dream job, but then I think or the commitment it takes. Constantly streaming and interacting with people, being forced to play something regardless of how Im feeling, learning or hiring someone to edit videos. Meh, its just a lot of work.

I work a lot more hours than that and love what I do.

You also have to be careful not to get cancelled, accused of sexual misconduct, or demonetized if you're an internet celebrity.

The amount of people trying to get in on that action means that the ones with savvy and work ethic are the ones who get to the top.

You have an astronomically low chance of having a social media career following taking off. There are so many people with boxes of untouched cameras and mics from a failed streaming attempt.

This. When there's thousands upon thousands of people that try to make it big on youtube or twitch, it's not exactly easy. You see the ones that made it big and think "look how easy that is" but what you don't see are all the nobodies that have been trying for years, but haven't made it.

Same thing happens to people that try and get into the music or film industries. All it takes is one lucky break to put you on the map. But you could just as easily never get that break and spend years not getting anywhere.

Yea you just have to say something people might misinterpret, misquote, being blatant about it, or anything people might not dig.

You'll end up doomed forever.

Being a streamer is only successful if you make a shitload of money. Think of all the successful streamers who will still have to join the 9-5 workforce at some point. Life is fairly long.

With work even if you don't do shit all day you still get money. With online hustles you need to be constantly researching, following market trends, working all the time to get anywhere. It can turn the thing you love into something you hate. For example, when Valorant came out pretty much every Twitch streamer had to switch to playing that to compete. There is no way I could force myself to play something I didn't enjoy just for more channel exposure. Id rather keep doing what I love my own way and do enough to get by at work to supplement that.
