Food that is relatively cheap and easy to digest in bulk.

I tried a gallon of milk a day but I can only do like half a gallon at most daily, before it ruins my bowls.

Eat a lot of chili with beans, cans of corn beef hash and stuff like that. I make homemade burritos and the can of refried beans is like $0.60 here.

Then you want to increase your protein more so than you want empty calories. FYI a rough measure is someone seriously trying to put on muscle should aim for 1g of protein per lb of body weight. So you should be aiming for 145g of protein a day. You won't need to hit that, especially if you're just getting started, but being aware of your macro targets will help you better pick food. For comparison, a chicken breast is about 30g of protein. 2 tablespoons of peanut butter are 8g of protein.

If you're looking cheap, your best bet is to meal prep each week by buying bulk chicken breast, broccoli, and rice. You can mix up seasoning to add variety or cook the chicken in different ways, but if you stick to simple ingredients prepared yourself you can hit those targets on the cheap.

To gain muscle, you need to hit the gym and eat protein powder. To gain fat, just drink alcohol or eat fast food.

Or if you have good genes just hit the gym and hit it hard and it doesn't matter what you eat.

Just to add on, you can rotate some lean ground beef in there (93% or leaner). Eggs (and egg whites) are also a fantastic source for protein. You can also add in some other carbs besides brown rice if you want, like wheat bread or potatoes. Tracking your protein intake and calorie intake is the most important thing. No need to slam 4,000 calories a day or anything like that, or else you will just get fat. It is different for everyone, but I think a range of 2500 to 3000 calories and 150 to 200g of protein is good.

cronometer.com is a great tool for calculating your macros and micros if you want to get more involved.

Yea I live off of coffee, beer and chicken biscuits and might gain about 3 lbs a year.

Usually I'm 135 but seen last week I was 138.

healthy fats added to meals. nuts, coconut oil, olive oil, peanut butter, whole eggs, red meat. Those may not be cheap though. If you want to go cheap you may have to go high carb, as carbs are dirt cheap, 20 lb bag of rice.

This, but peanut butter's fat is almost exclusively healthy dietary fat. If you want to bulk up quick and easy, just eat spoonfuls of peanut butter. A few spoons is a few hundred calories and a ton of protein.

Also peanut butter is fucking yummy, so bonus points.

If you don't care about macros, white rice is the cheapest way to bulk up.

If you also need protein, spam is the cheapest thing you can get it's basically 100% solid protein brick.

Eat a lot of carbs, focus on nutrient density and lift plenty of weights. It's literally that simple.

The more emphasis you put on eating foods that are focused more on fat and protein, the more body fat you will inevitably accumulate, due to how the human body treats them on a biochemical and physiological level, when they are consumed in excess of what it actually needs on a day-by-day basis.

The ideal macro ratio would be something like 70/15/15 for carbs, fat and protein. This means going hard on things like fruits, vegetables, grains, starches, legumes, nuts and seeds, and keeping refined carbs and calorie dense foods like oils, dairy and eggs to the absolute bare minimum you are willing to tolerate. Whatever your calorie needs are, increase them but keep the proportions as close to the 70/15/15 ratio as possible.

Do you know how many maintenance calories you need to maintain your weight? just add like 500 calories everyday and you'll gain a pound a week. You could do a 1000 calories, but there 8lb in a month.

I don't recommend dirty bulking either. +500 calories is good and manageable. Yes, increasing carb intake for calories is the way to go for bulking. High protein too (1gram per body weight), but at least 2x as many carbs.
