you mean a rule that forces people to interview candidates they don't want leads to interviews that are not taken seriously and that don't result in job offers?

The Belichick part is pretty amusing. Texted the wrong Brian.

Anyway, if this is true, the thing with the Dolphins owner seems like it'd be a huge deal.

The NFL is a great example of how racism is alive and well in the modern age. 70% of the players are black and yet you have to drag General Managers and Owners into a meeting hungover to interview a black guy for a leadership position. A black guy who took is previous team to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in 20 years, lol.

People think because they don't literally have the thought, "I'm not hiring this guy because he's black," they aren't racist, but the truth is it's subconscious. You grow up seeing white men in positions of power and subconsciously come to believe that's what leadership looks like.

The vast majority of quarterbacks, coaches, GMs, and owners are white, so when presented with two reasonably similar candidates, one white and one black, they go with a "gut feeling" or say, "We picked who we think is best suited to help us win," it comes from a place of institutional racism. A subconscious one. And the cycle perpetuates, a new generation of people grow up seeing only white men in positions of power.
