• Pokemon being able to freely swap out their moves without forgetting any of them.
• Being able to evolve a Pokemon whenever you want to, not having it be automatic when they reach the appropriate level.
• Pokemon who evolve by trade can also be evolved using a rare item.
• No EVs; Effort Levels replace IVs and can be boosted with items.
• Being able to seemlessly catch Pokemon and enter and exit battles while on the field.
• Complete control of the camera in all areas.
• Fully-modeled indoor areas.
• Only one version of the game.

Of course, PLA is missing some other mainstays (Held Items; Abilities; breeding), but it would be extremely disappoint if most if not all of the above are not kept going forward. Seeing as how we're talking about Game Freak here--the masters of dropping popular features in the following game--you can see how my concerns are well-founded.

I find it funny the argument people use for Arceus saying "this is a good first step for the franchise into something new" knowing full well they are going to go back to the normal shit next gen.

Mass releasing things because of all the breeders and maybe quality of life improvements to EV training. I don't see anything else coming along.

They are definitely gonna keep the "two" games thing going since they've gotten away with it for like 20 years. I can't see the trade evolution thing going to the main games either

If the history of the franchise is any indication...none. None whatsoever. Even if they do keep a small handful of QoL improvements in the next game, a subsequent game will invariably walk back on them.

Didn't they go so far as to walk back on multi-use TMs in the DP remakes? If so that's an even bigger slap in the face than chucking the Vs. Seeker in the bin from HGSS onward.

Its different teams making this game and what will end up being gen 9, most likely. So dont be surprised if what you see of gen 9 disappoints you.

I believe the following improvements will be kept.

Yep. BDSP goes back to one-use TMs.

You mean like being able to use vitamins to max? I can breed and ev train a full team in like an afternoon in Sw/Sh
