I bought 2018 WRX brand new a few years ago. It has 62000 miles on it and it is almost paid off. Tran warranty ended at 60k.

I was leaving work and drove about q block and then a big kah-chunk out of the engine. Coasted to the curb. Car wouldn't move while in gear although the engine idled fine and generated rpms.

Wait 2 hours for a tow in 30 degrees weather. Find out today the entire transmission broke and I am on the hook for a repair that is like half the car's trade in value.

Used cars and new cars are really expensive so I have to eat a surprise bill of large proportions. This sucks.

I have an emergency fund on hand for these matters but I hate it. Complete fluke accident.

You buy new? See if you can get a deal at the dealer since its extremely close to the warranty

Is it a fake shifting automatic, or man's mission transmission?

Do WRXs have transmission issues or something. Breaking at 60000 miles is really odd

It's a WRX owner lol.

Still hope things get better for TC. If you come back, you might be able to save some money by buying a specific rebuild kit and giving it to the mechanic.

I'm calling bullshit on it costing half the car's trade in value. Have you actually looked into the used car market right now? 2018 WRX's with that many miles are going for well over 20k.
