tbh I mostly want to start getting more steps in, and figured I could maybe do 5-10k steps at the gym every day. Im a mix of too scared and too embarrassed to do anything but basic cardio machines <_<

anyway this is my next step on my path to weight loss and junk. As of this morning Ive lost 5.7 pounds since New Years.

plus if youre using the strength machines, theyre pretty foolproof anyway, you sit down, choose the weight and move it in the only direction it goes

Maybe in a week or two, after watching other people do it plus I should do more research about what kinds of exercises I should be doing to help with the goals I have. Its not like Im trying to become a muscle man dude.

I don't understand why people go to a gym just to do cardio, but then again some people don't understand why I'd want to go to a gym than lift weights. But it's much easier to buy a cheap exercise bike than to buy a bunch of dumbbells, a bench, etc. I guess that's besides the point so long as you can afford it and actually use your membership, even if it's just to walk on the treadmill.

At every gym I've been to, it has never taken me long to find out that I'm not the most out of shape person there, which is more or less all I need to not feel self conscious about lifting. And I get self conscious about everything, trust me. You should try lifting a bit, it's good for everyone, contrary to a popular belief that weight loss should be strict cardio. And you're not gonna turn into some "muscle man" by accident, trust me. That takes a lot of dedication

The machines have instructions on them

If you use free weights then look up proper form first

well for one thing, my neighborhood and city arent very pedestrian friendly, so if I went out to walk or jog a few miles it would be on road shared with bikes and cars. On top of that, its more embarrassing to be a fat guy running on the street than a fat guy running on a treadmill - at least thats what I think others think. I dont have room in my apt for a treadmill or bike, so thatsout. I could do some cardio without a machine, but paying for the membership and knowing theresa place I can go to get my steps in gives me more motivation and less distraction. Or at least, thats the hope.

Ill see it when I believe it haha

I just meant I dont want to waste my time doing exercises that are meant for building muscle when I could be doing something more geared towards shedding pounds. Like I said, I need to read more up about it. But yeah obvs any excessive is going to be better than none and Im not going to accidentally be a bodybuilder lol

Elevate your body, live younger. Take the chance, get tougher muscles for daily work. Good luck. Try everything you can.

You can still shed pounds while lifting though. It just depends on how much you eat and how hard you work out, to a certain degree, though there are a million schools of thought out there and all kinds of different ways you could micromanage it.

you need to just go in there and push some weights around. who cares about a training plan right now. just pick a muscle group and do some push and pulls

have some fun else it's not gonna stick
