best examples are the bits of what else can i do and we dont talk about bruno, but just how expressive characters are the entire movie, their facial mannerisms CONSTANTLY changing, its subtle, but animation wise it just feels like on a whole other level. It's cg but everything about it is so fluid and organic. It really is breathtaking. I think the concept of the movie being so hardcore musical , they really take it the extra mile by how detailed these characters move and express themselves. I mean i've seen song and dance numbers in cg movies before, but in encanto it feels different.

Having good choreography, money and time makes for good animation. Artist driven works end up being great.

Hair is super great

What I love the most about Encanto is that the creators actually took the time to do research on Colombian culture.

My wife and I just got done watching it for the 3rd time about 20 minutes ago. It's excellent all around. Surface pressure is possibly my favorite Disney song but I'm trying not to let recency bias sway me.

also can we just reflect for a second they had real human references for the shadow rat back up dancers that were in frame for like less then 5 seconds? holy shit the attention to detail

Nothing bad to say about the animation, but this film really wasn't all that special. The song Bruno dragged on longer than necessary and a lot of the characters were insufferable.

Disney has really been upping their game

The tech behind The Mandalorian is slick as fuck. A whole new take on the old school panted backdrops seen in Golden Age cinema. Before green screen, they would make giant paintings for the backgrounds of movies. Think Wizard of Oz, Ben-Hur, 2001, etc

damn, that's actually some pretty good singing. I might actually watch it now seeing all of the positive feedback it's getting

Well technology keeps advancing, but in more subtle ways. Youd think theres not thatvmich difference in toy story 3 to 4 until you put them next to each other.

im kind of iffy on the direction its taking mainstream animation with trying to make a "let it go" hit to sell the movie, but damn is the animation solid and this is going to be a landmarj movie in terms of trends for awhile

sleeping beauty didnt have nearly the type of musical stage direction encanto did imo. it feels like the characters are real and on a stage, thats how expressive they are

It looked really good and the music is some of the best for a Disney movie. Probably the best music since the 90s.
