I see this done ALL the time, but I very rarely see credit given, and I can't find any sort of authoritative answer on it. My problem is I want to make a video, and I need some clips of some semi-obscure game footage, a lot of which were uploaded like a decade ago by inactive Japanese users. I can try asking, but I doubt I'll get a response in a lot of cases. In that case, would it be bad practice to take a few seconds of footage for my own video? I figure I would credit the uploader, but idk if this is frowned upon to do without permission. I will now say "that's how I would do it, but I'm not an expert." so as to remove blame upon myself. this. and dont make your entire video just one persons clips. at least add a little commentary of your own but even thats kinda meh.
