Honestly, his first year was good. He did the things he needed to do and communicated well.
2021 was not the same. He's backed off on COVID, he can't establish priorities to push bills through the Senate, he can't even get the party together. It's one thing to blame Manchin and Sinema for being fuck heads, which they are, it's another to fail at basic messaging.

I approve of him more than I'd be approving of the alternative and that's the only intelligent take on it.

He's been about as successful as he could meaningfully be expected given GOP opposition as par for the course and Manchin/Sinema bucking their own way. Realistically speaking, no one else could've done more as a Dem, and many would've done a helluva lot less.

People wanting him to do more either seriously misunderstand the power of the presidency or want him to make a fundamental reach towards authoritarian-style overreaches than he's obviously willing to go (for good reason). Really, his biggest issue in that realm has been promising $10K in student debt relief without a willingness to exercise executive overreach or testing the waters with legislative colleagues first.

I blame Congress more than Biden for where we currently are. Biden could definitely be better, though.

All I wanted was not Trump and he is doing a damn fine job at that.

Not sure why he gets credit for the vaccines though. Moderna had already agreed to produce 600 million doses and were clearly ramping up delivery with plans to have over 100 million before the end of q1 2021, all under trump.

Don't get this twisted by the way, I didn't vote for trump. I just think praising biden's admin for what was mostly the previous admin's planning and development is a bit revisionist. Biden admin just had to pretty much change nothing and let the vaccines continue to ramp up and roll out.

All the while everything else he's promised in the campaign is showing 0% progress. In fact, student loans are showing negative progress as he tries to get them started again (despite folding from the outrage). Doesn't make a lot of sense considering the pandemic numbers continuing to spike.

I understand headlines are catchy sometimes. We all fall for them occasionally. But if you just read them, you'll never get the full story. The first two paragraphs of your link contain two totally different statements.

Paragraph 1 / headline: "there was no plan"
Paragraph 2: "there was a plan, but not really"

(one sentence taken from what was clearly a longer interview from a guy who has spent his entire career ripping the right)

Did it start perfectly? Of course not. It started rocky. September 2020, they partner with CVS/Walgreens to help. October, they take states plans. Yes, the states did not write good plans according to the administration, but that is not the fault of the administration, not the state(s).

December 2020, $8b is approved for vaccine distribution.

At that point in time, supply was still the biggest issue. Early January, trump admin via operation warp speed confirms moderna would be making 600 million more. So with the money passed in December, and the supply beginning to ramp up in January, and rough guidelines from states in october (which one can surmise were improved upon in the three months between), all biden had to do was literally not fuck up (which, to his credit, he didn't).

Did he improve a few things about the process? Sure. But they're some of the most obvious things that even the trump admin would've done. But they couldn't at the time because as mentioned, supply wasn't adequate.

So... yeah. Don't just read headlines.

Let's not kid ourselves that could be anyone from both sides of the aisle. The only thing a democrat will do is maybe put it on hold but they're just as in the pocket of these companies as republicans.

I approve so far of what he's been TRYING to do. The Rs in Congress literally states that their sole focus is on disrupting everything Biden tries to do, and sadly due to the close party counts involved, they've been incredibly successful at it.

Right now the Rs have literally no ideas of their own, no legislation, and no policies. They're only riding on the "Big Lie" and stopping anything good that could be getting passed.

Meanwhile, Rs in charge of state govts have been working tirelessly to strip away voting rights, human rights, and other freedoms from minorities and marginalized peoples.
