Yeah planking is definitely different than just standing, especially with me being overweight and having most of my fat in my middle that has to stay up. I will get to one minute soon though.

Ouch! I just did 1:05 but it took one second to get in position after starting the clock so lets say 1:03-04. So I made a minute, and my abs are cramping.

I don't work out and I'm sure I could do it. Had to be able to do 30 seconds for basic training. (Wed do it several times a day though) and being out of shape as I was before going I tested myself just to see if I could. I've noticed it's easier if you are on a mat or something soft like thicker carpet. When I first did it it was on hard floor and that sucked a little

Edit. I just did a minute. Definitely out of shape as it bugged me a little but I coulda gone longer. My lower back is what seemed to be struggling though. My abdominal area felt fine the whole time

I do the traditional squat & deadlifts 3x week but plank holds/step outs are a solid trainer. I usually do them post workout. Is it necessary? Probably not. I did yoga for years and find it refreshing to do specific holds for challenge and strength.

To people that do a lot of sitting, planks are a great way to improve posture and prevent lower back pain with the muscles that they stabilize.
