It's the right thing to do. For the majority of people who are vaccinated, it'll hit them like a common cold. It's easily transmissible and not nearly as severe as other variants. Let it spread, we can't hide from it any longer.

A lot of people are simply terrified and going along with what their party has been saying for the past 2 years. This is the variant to ease up on.

In Canada, isolating has been pulled back to 5 days ONLY IF YOU HAVE COVID and are showing symptoms. No more quarantining if you've been in contact with someone but test negative and have no symptoms (yet).

Australia is making the right call. Stop fear mongering.

At this point, going "YOLO" to intentionally turn an epidemic into endemic, is looking like the most viable path.

It wasn't. They were still caught off guard by how quick it spread. They didn't even have enough tests to handle demand. The system just wasn't designed to handle this many people getting sick at once. Supply chains are disrupted, staff shortages are everywhere and people are spending less money than they were during lockdowns. It's a complete failure. Their solution is to now let workers go to work as long as they're asymptomatic. Spreading it even faster to more people.

Slowing down the spread using softer measures would have worked out a lot better.

I live in Western Australia and for the last two years it was pretty much the best place to live. Very few cases and almost no lockdowns compared to the rest of Australia at the cost of strict border control.

Western Australia is opening its borders to the rest of the world on the 5th of February so the dream is finally over.
