Although you'll never be back to the zero-immunity point you were at before your first shot (or first infection, if that came first), immunity does wane over time, even without the aspect of that new variants are gaining immune evasion ability. While what we really need is an updated shot, and while two shots even a long time ago is still better than none, the booster is a very good idea if you're able to.

Basically we'll be getting covid shots for the rest of our lives unless. Until it reaches the harm level of the cold, it's best to not skip on booster shots for Covid.

It likely will reach that eventually, much like HCoV-OC43 did. But the key word here is "eventually".
