Are you going to ignore the precheck classes so you can plow into stopped traffic going downhill?

After I finished graduate school in 2011, I struggled to find work. The economy was a wreck. I was lucky to be student loan free and had some capital available. After around a year of trying to find work, I seriously considered obtaining a CDL and going the owner-operator route. The economy did recover enough for me to put my degrees to work though so I did not go through with it.

Do you plan on going owner operator or as a driver employed by the big carriers?

@Crazyman93 No. Im a professional driver, and idiots who do that dont know how to downshift, 99% of the time it has nothing to do with the pre trip

@furb I will never be an owner operator, too much headache, and trucking is a very cutthroat business, Im going to be a local driver, hopefully for a small to medium sized company

Truck drivers are essential workers and are needed to keep our economy moving. Hopefully your company treats you right.

That's not bad. Like a dedicated route? Or just serving various routes but through one company?

Yep I know it can be a mess. But I figured at the time as somebody in their late 20s and no kids or wife, it would have been a good time to stay long periods on the road.

@furb I have a few companies Im looking at, its various stops, but its all the same products

If it still interests you, the times are good even for company drivers, you can make $100k+ with the right company

My father is an owner-operator and you're right. You also missed "the truck is always fucking breaking." If you drive for a company and the AC shits out for the 4th summer in a row, it's the company that has to fix it.

I do not receive notifications, so using the @ feature will not do anything. I might see your post and respond though if I have already been in the topic.

All my relatives who drove trucks were dead by 55. Unhealthy lifestyle plus back pain from being bounced around.

Commercial Driver's License, signifying you've gone through the training and testing of your state in the US required to drive a class 7 or 8 vehicle or any other vehicle in a commercial capacity. Holding it means you meet the standards laid out and can therefore drive commercially in any of the 50 US states.
