Also for anything to be hit here, people have to be fucking flying through like jackasses. It's 100 yards from the beginning of the road to a giant rail road crossing

And they do fly through. And... Well I better stop there

I ran paper routes for years, in the early hours of night and morning, having to haul ass down roads filled with critters. I hit 0 of them. Over years. I'm convinced 90% of people run them over just because they fucking can

They started building nature bridges to go across highways in Canada for the sole purpose of having a safe way for animals to cross the freeway while preventing accidents. I think it's a good idea, and a start.

I grew up wondering why in the actual fuck did they choose not to make this a necessary standard over the years.. it's shown animals will adapt to use and recognize these routes too so, like, wtf

That's true. I probably actually have hit squirrels or something crazy and didn't realize it. But the most I remember happening on the routes was deer would ram my car

It's awesome but where I live it will never happen. People here are too happy about dead animals

Where do you live TC? I saw a ton of dead animals driving through Texas. Here in California I hardly ever see them.

I've only ever hit one animal driving up a fairly steep section of road with some bushes off to the right on a hill. This was in the middle of the day, I'm going 30 on a 25 and this young-ish deer suddenly comes through the bush and jumps off the hill right into my lane. I swerve left to avoid it because I know that no one is coming towards me, and I just hit the sonofabitch with my passenger side headlight.

I was pissed because I now had to replace the light(there was no other damage and this was an old vehicle anyway) but I guess it must have been a harder hit then I thought because the next morning I noticed the deer dead in the same spot I hit it.

All I could think was "Well, shit. That's what you get for jumping into the road, dummie."

You'll see dead possums on the road often.

I once rolled up on a possum, and eventually was at 0 MPH.
