I'm looking to get WiFi but it's been a hassle. Most people in my area have Optimum, but complain about outages every now and then. Verizon seems to be better, but not readily available in my area.

What do you use to connect all your devices in your home?

If youre having incoming service issues then call them and ask them to inspect.

Get a Nighthawk Pro router and you should be fine

Optimum is complete trash and oversold, so you're not gonna get anything consistent and it will drop during prime times.

They're trying to fix this by switching to fiber, which barely any of its coverage area of NYC/NJ/LI/CT has yet.

I have Frontier service (along with their proprietary router) because that's literally the only broadband service in my town that is allowed to set up in my apartment building, otherwise I'd still have Harris like in my last apartment because it was just as good at almost exactly half the price.

My provider gave me some stupid router and I upgraded to a nighthawk. Best router I ever had. Easy to use and set-up. I have 2 satellites set-up so I get wifi all over the house. Get a nighthawk

ubiquiti

Seconding this. Specifically, Ubiquiti UniFi. It falls between typical consumer-grade equipment and enterprise, both in terms of price and features. Last I checked a few years ago, it was the cheapest way to deploy a centralized WLAN in my home.

I don't truly have an "incoming service" currently. I got this cheap Alcatel Linkzone 2 4G LTE Hotspot thing, but it only allows me like a week's worth of usage before I get an "unable to connect to the Internet" message, and have to wait the rest of the month for anything.

Also, just wanna state I only need to be able to use Internet for my laptop while I practice coding and to watch stuff on my Samsung TV.

I'm looking for an alternative ISP.
