My town doesn't even have a McDonald's. It's that small. I can walk across the whole thing in 15 minutes to the liquor store on the other side if I don't feel like driving.

I grew up in a pretty small paper mill town. Worst part was it was a dry town, so no bars, breweries, liquor stores, anything like that. They recently repealed the dry ordinance so there is a single brewery there now and I think they serve beer at the local VFW.

I work about 2 minutes from home. There are enough jobs here to employ everyone. I know it's not like that everywhere.

We have one tiny grocery store that's pretty shitty. It's where to go if you need something simple quick. There's a better one about 15 minutes away in the next town.

My town is 3miles long, closest major city is a 5 hour drive

I love it, fuck ever living in a city again

"What do you do there though??" Anything I want! There are no lines, no traffic, no competition, no commute, no construction, no bad parts of town...

The town i've been living in since 2018 has about 11k, so its not tiny, but I'd call it a small town compared to the mid sized cities I grew up in.

Not at the moment, but I grew up in a rural area where the closest place was a little village with a population of less than 100.

I am visiting my family for the holidays.

Our house is in an unincorpsted hamlet of around 50 people.

The nearest town is 8 miles away and it has 900 people. The county has around 8000 people. We have one stoplight in the entire county. We have a single Dairy Queen and a Subway.

There is no cell coverage at my parents house and the internet is 1.5 mbs via dsl.

I get a laugh out of what city folks think is a small town.

I was born in the Baltimore area. The traffic is fucking terrible. My parents both said they don't know how they lived there for so long. Lots of people move to the country and fall in love with it. Then others do the opposite. I'm just not wired like that, to be surrounded by activity and sounds all the time.

You got me beat there. My town has around 1400 but I believe that counts people living outside of town limits down backroads and stuff.

One time I got lost when I first moved here and went down this narrow road through a wooded area. I didn't realize it was a private road leading up to this huge house with a gate blocking entry. I was like wtf is this doing here and who lives in it

Last time I went to Denver I was struck by how damn bright it is at night

You can't see a single star. It's noisy all night too and people forget what actual quiet is

I live right next to a shopping center on the edge of the Denver metro area. I'm a 5 minute drive from basically anything I would want to access in terms of retail or food and I'm actually walking distance to a lot of stuff (10-20 minutes) like bars or the movie theater. I like it a lot.
