She's been found guilty of both first and second degree manslaughter.
Minnesota sentencing guidelines below

609.205 MANSLAUGHTER IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both.

609.20 MANSLAUGHTER IN THE FIRST DEGREE.
Whoever does any of the following is guilty of manslaughter in the first degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 15 years or to payment of a fine of not more than $30,000, or both:

I think 10 years for first degree manslaughter is appropriate.

So it looks like 1st and 2nd degree manslaughter but she can only be charged on the more serious offense. So she is looking at no more than 15.

I think 10 is reasonable.

I do believe she really didn't mean to pull a gun on the kid but she still did so in the heat of the moment and killed him, and there has to be consequences for that.

i think the least she can get with the convictions is 7 1/2 years. i suspect she'll get 10.

from what i watched of the trial, its fairly obvious she didn't mean to shoot the guy but its also obvious that she had been slack in her training that would have much reduced the likelihood she'd accidentally pull the gun instead of the taser.

Probably a sense of fraternity that backs up any officers decision to pull any handle-shaped weapon the second their delicate sensibilities are threatened or opposed.

its even worse since she apparently wore the taser on the same hip for those 20 years.

there's some form of training that they go through that is designed to help them develop reflex that you fall back on when making snap decisions that she skipped out on fairly consistently. taser drawing and firing training.

Does it even matter how many years she gets? It won't discourage cops from shooting at their own shadows.

you're not going to get that until you depower the political body that helps fund the defense of cops whenever they fuck up, people care here because it shows a legal system that is actually holding a cop responsible for their fuck-ups.

I have a feeling that she spent the almost her entire career in cushy siutations where she never needed to draw a weapon, so she completely was completely inequipped and in over her head when the situation arose. Sucks for her
