It was pretty messy. And the action wasnt very good. I was hoping for an epic showdown with Green Goblin at the end, but instead Spider-Man just punches him a few times and its over.

Still, they get all the credit in the world for making a movie with 3 Spider-Men and 5 villains work. The scenes with the 3 Spider-Men talking to each other were perfect. And the Tom Hardy cameo was a pleasant surprise.

Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. But whatever, I had a great time.

The sort of soft-reboot at the end is super exciting to me. No more stories with Iron Boy Jr, now its time for Holland to become a real Peter Parker Spider-Man

I can agree with the action, but I loved the movie personally. I thought they did a phenomenal job with the fan service with nostalgia, while implementing them perfectly within the storyline. Really well done IMO

Yep I was super pleased with this too.

He pretty much lost everything. Now we get to see him slumming it, making his own costumes, he doesn't have Stark Tech, he doesn't have a GF or anyone close to him that knows he's Spider-man.. I can't wait to see more

I rolled my eyes when they brought out the big Stark box of cures. But yeah, it looks like Peter will be on his own now.

Im not sure how I feel about another movie of MJ and Ned finding out who Spider-Man is, though.

My impression is that he's choosing to leave them out of it, after seeing how they can now go on to college and have their own lives. I don't think we'll see him pulling them back in (or at least I hope not). It's time for Spider-man to be on his own

I feel like Ned and Zendaya wont even be in the next movie. This was a pretty natural way to phase them out.

Exactly, especially since they are both going to MIT.

I'm a little sad that the heroes that Spider-man fought alongside with during the Infinity War won't remember him as Peter Parker. It's interesting to think about, because that wouldn't mean that they don't know that there was a Spider-man that fought with them. So will their memories of the battle against Thanos when Peter had his mask off, be replaced in their memories with just a masked Spider-man?

Also as far as MJ- they actually referred to her as Watson in this movie. So I'm not really sure we're ever going to actually get a Mary Jane in a future installment since this movie all but called Zendaya MJ Watson

I guess well get Gwen Stacy next? I know nothing about either character so Im indifferent.

I wish there was a (post credits?) scene showing what Norman was doing during parts where he was off-screen.

This way, there can still be a Green Goblin in the MCU even after Willem Dafoe is teleported away. It can lead to great events like the death of Gwen Stacy, the Thunderbolts, or Dark Reign.

They won't be back. MJ at least won't for sure. There were rumors a year ago or so that they wanted to give Spidey a new love interest. I didn't believe it cause Zendaya is awesome.

But anyways.. that is very clearly the direction they are going with that ending. He saw how happy they were living normal lives and decided to just leave and not bring the Spider-man bs back into their lives.

I'm willing to overlook the lack of really iconic action scenes and "hype" moments due to the fact that 1) we actually got all 3 live-action Spideys in one film, 2) all the Spideys got good development, esp Tom's, and 3) the villains amounted to more than fanservice, with a couple of them having even better scenes than in their original movies.

Also, getting some closure to Andrew's Peter was fantastic. It was all I ever wanted.

Meanwhile, Willem Dafoe is of course the stand-out; that man can't do wrong as Green Goblin. He's actually 100% more sinister in this without his mask than he was in SM1.

And Tom's Peter finally being forced to grow out of the shadow of the Avengers and be his own hero? Fuck, the fact he even had to sew his own suit?? I'm super pleased about that.

It's def not a perfect movie, but it's the best of Tom's trilogy for sure, and still in my top 4 Spidey movies in general.

Most likely the broken mask was left behind. Someone's gonna pick it up, get possessed and become the mcu goblin

i doubt theyd go that route anyway if green goblin does appear in a future movie. I think they would want to have their own take on the Goblin and not rehash

my guess is, for the next movie, if its not Venom just yet well probably see a villain we havent seen in life action yet. Maybe Kraven or Scorpion

Isn't Scorpion already confirmed? IIRC he was in Homecoming's post-credits scene, wanting to team up with Vulture........and now Vulture doesn't remember Peter (only Spiderman) so.....

Yeah, Scorpion was in Homecoming (but he was just a regular weapon dealer). They'll def have Vulture and Scorpion teaming up if they do a Sinister Six movie for real.

Man I need some better looks at his new suit. It looked clean.

I wouldn't mind if they started up the Felicia Hardy storyline.

They needed to add in a scene of both Peters returning to their universes. Both shot in Raimi/Webb style direction. Garfield can have a chat with his Aunt May or something and tell her that hes Spider-Man in a heartfelt scene. Maguire can enter the house his Aunt May sold in SM2, and will be greeted by Kirsten Dunst. Theyre married, and after some dialogue, a little girl enters from upstairs and runs up to hug her dad.

Yeah, with MJ, Peter saw the injury on her forehead and realized he'd just be dragging her into more danger if he tried to reconnect with her, so he decided not to.

That's was when all of them were trying to get in. And if I'm wrong about that, she still isn't really interested anymore and she doesn't know why. The cliche "something's missing" wasn't said but it was highly implied.

I don't think that was what the conversation was implying.

She said earlier in the movie that she doesn't get her hopes up anymore to avoid disappointment. When she has that final conversation with Peter she was saying that it feels different this time. I'm pretty sure she was implying she does have her hopes up for the future since she got into MIT and that it feels different so she does have hope that things will be better. Solidifying to Peter that he did the right thing and causing him to leave them alone.

It really strikes me how much this movie owes to the amazing spider man and raimi films.

All the heroes and villains were developed there so this film didn't need to waste time on that at all. If this was just a big standard spider man story like the director originally pitched, it wouldn't be as acclaimed.

Well if this was just a big standard spiderman story it'd be completely different so we can't really judge a nonexistent film

IDK I feel if they wanted to reboot Spiderman just introduce Miles instead of this awkward memory loss thing

It would have been in the vein of homecoming and ffh. A singular villain, something to do with stark etc.

Goblin worked well here. Dr Octopus did too I guess but wanted to see more of him being evil. Electro got the revamp he needed here, so that is fully on Watts. Lizard was nothing character, even the most distant of the Thanos henchmen had more development and better action. I still don't know why Sandman fought the spidermen and the de-sandinizer was complete bs, Peter Parkers built a device that turns a sand guy into a normal human in 2 hours (then again Tony Stark developed time travel in a night so whatever)

As for action as others stated, having a night time cgi battle is always a fail. Especially when one villain is made of sand and the other is a dark green lizard.

The Dr Strange vs Spiderman fight was perfect, beautiful and everything. It showed both of their contrasting personalities with Peter's compassion and Strange's calculated approach. It showed the multiple things Strange could do (mirror dimension, astral form, cape, whip thing, use of portals) and also showcased what Spidey could do (swinging, spidey sense) and what Parker can do (mathematics, outsmart a genius) while Peter delivered the goofy humor he is known for. This was an underrated sequence that does not get enough love
