I can understand taking away paid benefits for the unvaccinated, but there's still a chance that someone who is vaccinated could get it again. It's shitty to say they're on their own.

The article says that for those who manage to get a case while vaccinated, they'll still have paid leave.

This. Legislators should start coding in exceptions for not being vaccinated against measles, COVID, etc into the ACA.

If a company decides it doesn't want to force its employees to get vaccinated, this should 100% be the route they all take.

I, for one, believe that healthcare is a human right. I get the satisfaction of seeing the machinations of our current Healthcare system wielded against the unvaccinated, but at the end of the day it's bad for employers and insurers to have the power to raise healthcare costs based on someone's health status.

I agree in that I think it should be a right, but what is wrong with providing incentives for healthy living? In a hypothetical world in which the US had Universal Healthcare, would you be against a $500 tax incentive to not use tobacco? Because the Kroger thing feels pretty similar to me.

If my idiot neighbor keeps having wild bonfires and catching my roof on fire, how long do you think his insurance company is going to keep paying to fix my house before they drop him as a client?

Regardless of if you feel healthcare is a right, the insured does still have responsibilities and obligations too. Or they fuck the entire system up for everyone else.

Bad move - they should just fire employees who refuse the vaccine. All this is going to lead to is more people coming into work sickand spreading it to more customersbecause they cant afford to take unpaid sick days.

This. We cant be a strong nation if the unvaccinated are preventing us from experiencing our freedoms in safety.

I mean not sure why people keep harping on you can get covid after vaccination, did any professional actually say it was 100%?

Anti Vaxxers who want the world to just "move on" and accept covid as an everyday thing that cant be completely eradicated, this is the tradeoff.

You complained about mandates
You complained about proof of vaccination
You complained about being denied access to places as a result of your refusal

Now, you're just gonna be on the hook financially for your own ignorance.

Even though they serve functionally similar purposes, adding surcharges seems more punitive than a deduction on your health insurance seems like a reward. The extreme version is "To use our health insurance you have to be healthy" not "If you're healthy your insurance is super cheap".

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

It depends, you could argue that not getting vaccinated is "just cause" for termination because it's a health and safety concern. But a lot of states are passing legislation that would pay out unemployment to those fired for not getting vaccinated.
