Neo Geo games were $199 a piece with the console being $649.

One of my toughest gaming choices ever was deciding on buying this or Doom 64. As a kid it was like all the money I had and had to make it count. I distinctly remember being in KMart and just standing there trying to decide

I really struggled with it as a kid. The big gorilla enemies were super tough. I think I might have only got past the first or second levels by using a game shark.

It definitely didn't stick out enough to be worth more than it's competition. Though, I do think it's one the N64 series that's still fun to go back to if you don't gotta use the N64 controller. This year wasn't the first time I went back to it and got hooked for a day or 2.
