School staff, as well as the parents of the shooter all missed a bunch of chances to prevent the shooting. I wouldn't be surprised if there is 3 trials

One for the shooter

One where the school is sued

One where the parents are sued

Not if you read up on what happened that day before the shooting. He had a gun on him, when he went to the principals office to talk with staff and his parents. Then they all let him go back to class. With a gun hidden on him

The victims were students not staff. He killed 4 students. No teachers died

How is that their fault?

I was just watching a segment on CNN and they were implying what I am saying. That the school and shooters parents have some blame in fucking up

Maybe I should mention they were aware he had made death threats to the school. He shouldn't have been allowed in class

Why would the school have searched him? Is there information to clear this up? And from my understanding the dad bought the gun for himself and the son was taking pictures like it was his.

This is the preliminary info I read. You might have more

Its still his fault that he literally shot people with a gun.

the schoo, talked to him and his parents in a meeting in the principal's office because he had made death threats. He told people he was going to kill at the school. That was the whole reason for the meeting

The principal should have relayed to the police, which I heard they didnt. And I think they have a police officer on campus to.

imo, its not a teachers responsibility to start patting down kids for weapons

I don't know if I want to start setting precedents where people go to jail for not reporting possible crimes. That sounds like a nightmare tbh.

even if CNN says there should be 3 trials.

2 is the number. 1 for the shooter. 1 for the shitty parents (especially the father who bought the gun).

This. Since when does a school search someone who goes to the office? I have been sent to the principles office many times and have been suspended so much they almost considered expelling me. Not once was I searched for weapons.

I'm assuming you weren't there because you had said you were going to commit a school shooting though.

Only real blame would come if there was reason to call the police but they didnt in some stupid, bullheaded attempt to save face.

I mean, it's not this particular crime but mandatory reporting when a professional has good reason to believe that a patient/ student is being abused or abusing others... Kinda already exists.

Yes. Mandatory reporting is narrowly defined enough that it's not really an issue. "You failed to pick up on these warning signs to stop a school shooting" is going to involve a whole lot of benefit of hindsight heavily weighed in favor of prosecution and it will establish case law that can be used on other things.

Mother of Michigan boy who gunned down students at a learning institution thanked Trump, who revoked Obama era gun checks for mental illness (among other policies), and "complained about parents at other schools where the 'kids come from illegal immigrant parents' and 'dont care about learning,'"

Do parents face any liability? I thought the NRA did away with that...
