I've been told that nobody in 40k is meant to be a hero. All the factions would be seen as evil to our current society. But far right conservatives take the setting at literal value, and admire the human empire, The Imperium of Man. The Imperium of Man is essentially Nazis in space. They see all non human life as evil, while they themselves are no better.
