Its only good for lunch meat. The white meat is easier to dry out and the dark meat doesnt even taste good. It takes a needless amount of time to prepare a decently sized one, and leftovers taste terrible. Ill never understand the leftover thanksgiving turkey trope. Turkey starts to taste gamey rather quick.

chicken is the superior poultry and what Ill be enjoying this thanksgiving. #Chicken4Thanskgiving.

Commercial turkey is blah. They grow so much breast meat so fast it doesn't have a chance to take on much flavor. Even then it's perfectly fine as long as you cook it right.
A good heritage bird is great though. I bought some smoked turkey drums last week(Koch Farms) and they were incredibly delicious. It'll probably be much better than the thing I'm going to be eating Thursday, though I'll never say that to my mom.

It's pretty easy to make a delicious turkey via brining the bird a few days before cooking. That said it's really annoying you can only get like 14 pound turkeys. It's just me and my wife, we have no use for that much food.

Trying roast duck this year, hopefully it's good!

Traditional turkey dinners prepared without any care is meh. She cooks a deliciously moist bird that doesn't dry out and I coat it with garlic, onion, herbs, and spices so it has flavour, with sides like honey glazed asparagus and brown sugar carrots.

And then the leftovers go in the freezer and I get to have turkey in my omelettes and grilled cheese for weeks.

Taste is subjective, but it's super easy to make your turkey taste the way you want it to.

Overrated my ass. There are far more people bashing turkey than praising it. Turkey sucks if you don't know how to cook it. However, if you do know how, it's juicy and delicious.

Thats not really a defense of Turkey. The sides are usually the only good thing when Turkey is involved. Chicken is good on its own.

chicken is bland crap unless you season it right. there's a reason the "it tastes like chicken" joke is a thing, its because its the generic bland meat taste.

I've had good turkey exactly once in my life, and it was at a church potluck. Don't even know who brought it :(
