For some reason it's ok to do this for a dog. Seems kind of cruel for a cat.

Though I have seen leash-trained cats.

Not really. If they climb something and the leash loops over a tree branch or something, the can be left hanging when they jump down.

I've never been able to tie a cat to something for long. They are too crafty and always get loose.

Cats are outside animals, they need to roam around

dogs are pack animals and are fine living inside so long as they get a bit of exercise

having said that, if you live in an area where you cant have a cat roam around outside, dont get a cat.

Absolutely not true. Cats are fine indoors, as long as they have enough space and variety, and a lot of animal welfare organisations actually recommend it, because the outdoors is not kind to cats.

What a dumb take
No he's right.

If you don't have the means to care for an animal, don't get one.

As a former bird dad, I whole heartedly agree.

My first cat loved going outside, plus we had a doggy door so it was impossible to stop him from doing so. At that house with the doggy door, he must have killed 10 birds, some chipmunks, and even a fucking rabbit that was about as big as he was. I'm for letting cats be outside, but you have to take responsibility for their actions. If I got another cat that was as good a hunter, I'd have to put a bell or something on him to stop him from fucking up the local animal populations.

Exactly. Those cats will be much happier being kept in a cage 24/7 at a shelter.

Don't be daft. I just agree that if you don't have the means to take care of an animal then don't get one. Cats are fairly independent and will find a way to get outside.

they cant just find a way to get outside if you keep your door shut and watch for the cat when you go out
