There's been a lot of pain/discomfort for over a week.

When I called to schedule an appointment the scheduler laughed.

I can see why people feel embarrassed to go to the doctor for certain issues.

Damn that's very scary ... Mine doesn't seem to have any visual indicators and I don't touch my sack enough to know if it's swollen

I'm very nervous . I saw a GP/physician and he was kind of dancing around possibilities... He started to say "well for someone your age .." and then he stopped so I hope his hunch isn't something sinister (cancer, basically)

Could be a varicocele. It's like a little varicose vein in your testicle, and every so often it can become congested and inflamed. An ultrasound would spot it -- it spotted mine.

I don't think there's much they can, or are usually willing to do, for minor ones. I think for the really problematic ones they might suggest surgery, but personally I'd leave that as a last resort. For me, the problems gradually eased over time (we're talking months, maybe a year). I took the occasional aspirin, which one doctor recommended, to thin the blood a little; but I can't remember if that made much difference or not.

Sorry that's not very helpful -- I just kind of learned to live with it (sex was a bit "ouch" sometimes) until it sort of went away by itself. But hey, that was quite a few years ago, so there might be new treatments now.

Ive had this done. Apparently I have a varicose vein on my left testicle which explains why it hurts when I haven't unloaded in a while.

Also laughing about booking something like that is incredibly unprofessional.

Yep, blue balls is definitely something you want to avoid if you have a varicocele. Feels like someone's just smashed your nut back up into your gut with a hammer.

Mine wasn't. I saw the ultrasound image, and it looked like it was running right through the centre of my testicle. But they told me that was unusual, so I guess it's certainly not impossible for it to be visible on the exterior.

it's gonna be okay. You made the first step in getting a check up sooner than later. There's a good chance it could be a false alarm. If it ends up being cancer, it really depends on the progression like if it spread elsewhere, but generally the 5 year survival rate is 95%. Take it one day at a time. You got this!

Thanks. Unfortunately I have to wait until next Friday before I can even get the examination done. The doctor said he would be able to review the results the following day but I don't know if he works on Saturdays.

I had a cancer scare with my mouth 7 months ago due to spots on each side of my mouth. I got a biopsy saying it wasn't cancerous and it was just caused by my teeth grinding on it. Also they said people in their 40s and up usually get it.

No matter what happens in this situation, you will be okay.
