My 2bedroom apartment was going up to $3300, the internet was twice the price I pay now for half the speed, and just about everything costs more. If you're seriously considering living there you should have a household income of about $100,000 in order to live comfortably and be able to save a bit. Even the bad areas that we used to live in (Fontana, San Bernardino, etc.) were starting to rise in price. Chula Vista and Imperial Beach to the south are a bit more affordable. The Santee area to the east is cheaper but also basically a desert. Northern towns up the coast are really nice but expensive. When I first moved I ended up in University City which is cool for younger people because it's a college town associated with UCSD and is close to La Jolla. The only other place is Escondido but that's more like 45 minutes to the northeast. We're trying to decide between Phoenix and Colorado. We want to buy a house and those places are more in line with our income.
