Also aside from the Padres which teams do they root for? They have like 7 football, basketball and hockey teams in the general vicinity.

My gooby.

It is expensive here. And the traffic is getting worse, especially during rush hour. But at least it isn't take 1 hour to move 10 miles like LA is.

Best Mexican food too! Among other things.

That's enough to make it comfortably but you'll never own a home if you're ok with that.

Outside of housing it's the best place I've ever lived.

Also, Padres disappointed badly this year but man is it still a great stadium and aura. We also have minor league hockey, the Gulls, as well as other minor league stuff and SDSU's teams if you're into college.

Still wondering about this.

I assume you guys followed the Chargers to LA but are hockey and basketball basically a pick whichever is winning?

Which games do they broadcast in the local market?

Nah. Like...majority of the city HATES the chargers now, though I stuck with them. And basketball I see a lot of peeps like the Lakers/Clippers which is ironic considering how much we hate other LA teams lol

Generally my experience is people root from wherever they are from because no one grew up here.

Lots of Boston sports fans.

Sports markets are Padres and whatever LA team is playing.

Yeah incredibly diverse, especially with the Asian population. I'm Filipino myself, and live in Mira Mesa where it used to be called Manilla Mesa lol. But there's a lot of Vietnamese and others here now too. Lots of Filipinos down south in National City too and everywhere really. Then you have Koreans and others around Convoy/Kearny Mesa. And of course lots of Mexicans

Super diverse city for sure. I'm not sure if there is another more diverse place in the US, maybe SF or LA?

Cool, can I find a decent 2 bedroom for $2,000 a month or less? I was born and raised in the hood so I dont really care how fancy the area is.

Maybe in El Cajon or somewhere out east. I'm in a 2 br at $3k but I'm also 2 miles from Torrey Pines Beach.

I just moved out of CA because of the cost. My 2bedroom apartment was going up to $3300, the internet was twice the price I pay now for half the speed, and just about everything costs more.

If you're seriously considering living there you should have a household income of about $100,000 in order to live comfortably and be able to save a bit.
As previously mentioned you'll never own a home in that area.

California is beautiful and I miss it, but the cost of living is the cost of a stable future.

Indiana. I don't recommend it here unless you're buying a home and want to renovate, then it's great.

A single guy living in a studio or 1 bedroom? It'd be great!
A family? No.

Can I ask when?
All the nice areas rents are spiking huge right now. The neighbors above me in my old complex moved out and the landlord was jacking up the rent to $3300 per month.

Early 2018-July 2019 then I moved in with my gf.

Yeah I should have specified this would be for a single person in a 1 bedroom apartment.

Our lease comes up in November can't wait for rent to spike another $400

Ah yeah that makes sense then.
I was making a bit more than TC, but supporting myself, my wife, our two cats, and all our bills as my wife couldn't work for a while due to COVID. It wasn't enough and we had to split from CA.
Even the bad areas that we used to live in (Fontana, San Bernardino, etc.) were starting to rise in price. We couldn't find a house for less than 2k per month in Fontana and we were sick of apartments.

I'm also from San Diego, I live in houston now. It's a nice city and cheaper then San Diego for sure. You can buy a nice home for 200k. But I mean, it is texas so a lot of Republicans (though houston does vote blue and I did see some biden signs). Though if you tone, I would suggest somewhere in colorado. Denver's was pretty nice, not sur ehow expensive it is though.

I'm not sure on prices anymore but spring valley and lemon grove are nice. I think el cajon and santee are cheaper though.

Chula Vista and Imperial Beach to the south are a bit more affordable.

The Santee area to the east is cheaper but also basically a desert.

Northern towns up the coast are really nice but expensive. When I first moved I ended up in University City which is cool for younger people because it's a college town associated with UCSD and is close to La Jolla.

The only other place is Escondido but that's more like 45 minutes to the northeast. It's a bit cheaper but again is really hot.

We're trying to decide between Phoenix and Colorado. We want to buy a house and those places are more in line with our income. Phoenix because it'd keep us a little closer to family in SD but I don't know if I can handle the heat. Denver seems a bit pricey, though the suburbs around it seems nice. I work remote so location doesn't matter.
