Would you guys recommend i go to a shop to get them to change the RAM or should i do it myself? Or should i send it in to the manufacturer for an upgrade?

Keep in mind that not every program on your computer will be able to take advantage of the increased RAM.

You should just install the RAM yourself if you are considering upgrading.

First open up your laptop memory area. Usually it's on the underside, sometimes by itself sometimes in the same place as the battery if you have removable battery. If it's not there it's under the keyboard.

Check to see if it has 2 or 4 DIMM slots. If it's 2, buy 2 sticks of 32, otherwise buy 4 sticks of 16. Make sure they're identical memory sticks. If you don't know what you're doing things can get weird if you mix and match.

Slot them in literally like Legos. You're done.

If the computer won't boot, it means you didn't slot them in all the way. You can't put them in the wrong way because of a notch so don't worry about that.

After effects and blender should though, right? Those are both pretty heavy duty softwares.

You seem fairly knowledgeable about this. I am awful with computer parts, it is very confusingfor me. My computer is a 10th gen msi ge75 raider se, could you link me to the appropriate RAM for this machine?

All ram as long as it says "laptop ram" will fit. It's just a matter of how much money are you willing to spend. I don't know the specs of every laptop offhand and you will have to open it up to install it anyway so you might as well do it now. If you can tell me how many slots you see, I'll recommend you a boss option and a budget option. If you have no idea what you're looking at, take a photo of the underside and post it.

It has two slots. Money is not a problem but i am also not trying to purchase brand name parts if there are alternatives that work just as good. I heard that stock ram or the brand that comes with the laptop is best. Do you think 64gb is overkill?

Budget:
There's no budget 64gb option I can find everything is from either a no-name option I can't vouch for or is only cheaper by like $30 and not worth it. There's some good budget 32gb options if you want.

For video editing 64gb isn't overkill but if you're making 3D videos you actually want a workstation gpu. For regular linear operations ram is good enough and you can never have too much.

I cannot wait to spec this out. I plan on keeping this laptop as long as my last one which was around 7 years.

Also get an external scratch disk to avoid getting your SSD used.

Video editing software tend to write frequently in your disk, which is called scratch. SSDs have a limited number of writes in their life before dying.

By telling your PC to write in an external, sacrifiable disk instead you avoid any potential damage to your main disk.
