i need to use din's fire to progress, I have 0 magic and have literally spent the past 15 minutes going through all the early rooms breaking pots and crates only to get no magic refills at all

like what kind of shit ass game design is this. if i have zero magic you can't set your magic drop RNG to like 75% or something? holy shit.

Why would you need Din's fire in the fire temple? I think the only time you actually need it is to get into the Shadow Temple.

i'm actually playing master quest so it's probably different

but yeah actually that stumped me at first. i assumed din's fire was optional, and in order to even get past the first area on the map you need to use din's fire lol.

What kinda run are you doing? I don't recall fire temple needing Din's in any kind of run.

Also, the RNG does weigh itself to your lacking resources. Might be an emu thing?

ohh master quest

Oh yeah, MQ is kinda wack at points.

There's a glitch in the fire temple portion of Ganondorf's Castle where you have to collect silver rupees and some of them just don't register.

i will add i played the OG OoT 15 years ago so this game is basically brand new to me. i wouldn't be able to tell you any differences between OoT and MQ.

I think you can reset to fix it if it happens, but I know it killed my drive to finish MQ as a kid. I went back and finished it, so it must be fixable...

My favorite thing about MQ was the addition of cows to Jabu-Jabu's Belly.

MQ is designed in the same style as the original LoZ second quest-- it's made to be unfair, to force you to back out of dungeons and come back prepared, as if you're playing against a malicious dungeon master. It's definitely not for everyone, although I enjoyed it.

bro ngl this has left a really bad taste in my mouth and i'm not sure i want to continue lol. i'm beginning to think i should've just replayed OoT instead. but i'm over halfway through this game. feels bad to have to look up guides to figure out puzzles lol.

I would suggest a three heart challenge. I'm not a fan of it, but lots of people do. You either get good or you tolerate a near constant beeping noise.

so far it's fine. it's just that some of the puzzles definitely make me scratch my head. the iron knight wrecked me the first time because one hit took out half of my hearts lol. but i've played enough dark souls bro.

I think that's right... MQ definitely doesn't have the same types of hellish combat gauntlets that the LoZ 2nd quest does in its later dungeons. What they have in common is that they're just plain mean to the player sometimes.

man i definitely should have played OOT over MQ

i mean just look at this shit from the IGN guide

Stand on the closest edge and power up a spin attack. Let it rip and it'll trigger the switch.
Climb back up to the room above and look for a blocked off corner behind metal bars. Perform another spin attack and you'll trigger a hidden switch.

like how the fuck was i supposed to know my spin attack would trigger the switch, and how would i find out there was literally a hidden switch in the crate?

i liked this too. i'm more than okay with the extra enemies and difficulty on the combat front. i'm a big dark souls fan. but the head-scratching puzzles (and now they seem constant. i'm basically using a walkthrough for the entire fire temple) are a bit too much.

fuck that lol. fuck pots that keep giving me rupees when I'm maxed out and don't give me arrows, bombs or magic. bollocks to that.

if these temples get even more difficult i'll probably call it quits.

Nothing wrong with a guide tbh. Especially just using it for a part or two, I had to myself once or twice for bullshit placed things (particularly one point in the Spirit Temple.)

Master Quest requires knowledge of exploiting certain mechanics later on . No shame in looking up a guide. There's a puzzle involving silver rupees that can you just walk into, but can't grab. Apparently you're supposed to be doing backflips to "collect" them.

Where was this at? I played it earlier this year and don't recall this at all. Also, TC, the Fire Temple is probably the most annoying dungeon in MQ. I don't recall even the Water Temple being all that bad apart from one puzzle. Just keep in mind that you really have to go out of your way on some parts to get the Gold Skulltulas, though that's the case for many of the dungeons.

Yeah those rooms are used as normal rooms in the regular version of the game. I think most of the dungeons in Master Quest have rooms that are used for Gold Skulltulas that were used as main areas of the dungeon in the regular version of the game.

Ganondorf's tower. There's a platform that goes up and down. When you go on it there's a silver rupee that touch's Link, but the hitbox doesn't reach because you gotta back flip onto it.

yeah read up above. i basically skipped like half the fire temple. you still have to do some BS puzzles before then (like guessing that din's fire is necessary, then timing some weird stuff with it and hope you don't run out of magic...also guessing to hit a switch with your sword spin attack. just fuck it.)
