Should the age where you're allowed to compete be higher?


I was at Sheetz last night and they were showing Olympics Gymnastics and the girl competing on the screen had to have been in the 11-12 age range. That's just messed up.

In gymnastics, that's their best time to compete. Gymnists are on a short time-limit before they leave their prime, which is usually in their teens.

Which is why missing even one Olympic competition is devastating for them, since it could literally be their only shot at doing well.

The minimum age for gymnastics in the Olympics is 16. The problem isn't that the minimum is too low, but that countries just lie to send children.
